The network:

Dlink DIR 655
Server running Windows Server 2003
XBOX running XBMC

The problem:

When I'm streaming video from my server to my Xbox, every half an hour or so the entire network will go down for a couple of seconds and I'll have to reload the movie and fast forward to where I was left at. What could be causing this? I use to stream movies from my laptop over wireless g to my xbox with no problems, I shouldn't have issues now.

When I go to the Status of my router, I've had 49 errors over the last month on the LAN side, and 8890 wireless errors.

Where on earth should I start looking to find the solutiont o the problem? I thought it was Utorrent, but even when I havfe items queued with nothing downloaded the problem persists.

this could eb a problem with DHCP, can you see what your renew/release time is set at?

Is there anything connected to the router other than the 360 and the PC you're streaming from? If so, try disconnecting all other clients and test with just those two devices attached. If the problem still occurs, it's probably a router issue, although I suggest testing with another router before you think about replacing anything.

I'm starting to wonder if it's something on the server side... streaming from the server to my laptop also freezes. Could it be the realtek onboard nic?

An easy way to find out would be by popping in a PCI NIC and seeing if that fixes the problem.

I'm having the same issue with the dlink. I'm going to return it because my voip keeps dropping calls too. I can maybe talk for 2-3 minutes and it hangs up.....

Ok it's related to torrents, specifically Utorrent running on my server... even if an item is Queued I have problems streaming, however if I stop everything in utorrent no dropping....

I even turned down the max number of connections to 100 and it still drops out on me.

Well, I don't know what could be causing it but if it's related to Utorrent I can relate that I have a similar setup and have no problems w/ streaming while snagging torrents w/ Azureus.

uTorrent maintains connections with other peers even when files are queued. If you set the maximum to 100 connections per torrent, that could still be too much for your connection. Try going down to around 60 per torrent and 200 total, and see if streaming works better.
