...well according to my computer anyway:confused:

my computer has just stopped recognizing that it has two hard drives plugged into it...i have taken them out and put them back in but they're still not being recognized, any suggestions?

Thanks
Mayhs

my computer is not even recognizing the boot drive...and it is asking me to boot from my vista CD, but if i do that, will i loose all the data on my harddrives?

will looking in the bios help? do you think something could have been accidentally changed? (bearing in mind i haven't changed any settings on my computer for about a month or two...)

A bit more detail please...

Are they detected in the BIOS?
Did you install (hardware and/or software) anything new lately?
What changes were made to your system prior to this problem?
Are these SATA or PATA?
Are any other drives detected by the BIOS?
What motherboard do you have?
etc...

i decided to plug the two hard drives into another one of my computers and they were recognised, so i took them out and plugged them back into this computer and they just started working again and im posting from this computer...

thanks for your help guys:) it was much appreciated, i forgot how good the people on this forum were:)

You may need to replace your data and/or power cable(s) for those drives.

yeah i think im going to do that...i turned the computer off, booted it up again and the drives were found missing again...so i had to replug in the hard drives again and booted the computer up and it worked this time...i think it must be faulty cables lol
