Hey everyone my boss just ordered a dell for the office and we do lots of very heavy 3d renders and 3d animations(maya, 3dmax, blender,etc...) we are a production house i was wondering if you guys think this is a pretty good rig and will be able to handle the work load

Decent system, quick question will a 250 gig harddrive be enough for your work load. Also agree with those specs, its a shame it will only be pushing a 19 inch monitor.

They prob store most files on a server.
 
yes we store most of our files on a server and back them up on external hd's...yes i know i told my boss to get bigger screens but we are gonna be running 2 19inche screens with the wonderful ebay dual screen setup lol

I think the FX570 will be insufficient for heavy animation work. Something like a FX1700 or higher would be better. Same with the processor, I use a 2.83GHz E5440 and you can notice the difference between it and a 2-2.5GHz quad core during rendering. These options do add several hundred $ though. Can you post a pic of the mini-tower? I think it would the case from the T5400 but I'm not sure. Here is my full tower T7400:

hey guys its coming in Monday or Tuesday when it does i will be posting pics of the interior...yes i know the video card could have been better but my boss is one of those mac closed minded people so i will be slapping him around till he upgrades that(hes my cuzin) lol means i can get away with it lol...i had to convince him what he was spending on one mac he could buy 2 faster pcs for less

I just upgrade30 new PC and LCD in my Company. Not Dell but HP. We do some cilvil engeneering work. Highways, Tunnels geological research etc.

We bought workstation line HP xw4600 with relatively good price/performance ratio.
Some spec:

CPU: Intel C2D E8400
Ram: 2x2Gb ECC DDR2 800Mhz
HDD: 2x160Gb SATA. Two Partition. System C in Raid 0 and D in Raid 1.
GPU: NVidia FX1700 512Mb
Windows Vista 32b ( Autodesk application has no support for 64b)
Monitor: LCD 24" HP 2465
