I have a question about a usb based cellular modem, you plug it into 2 of your usb ports and it gives you around 155k download speeds. So I was wondering if it is possible to share the internet connection through Ethernet ports on a computer to share the connection to a seccond computer? And if it is what if any software would I need to do this?

My Step Mom needs to share it with a desktop and a laptop computer, so I was wondering if it would be possible to share the connection through an Ethernet port on the computer and share the internet connection to a wireless router. And due to where she lives, I dont know if she can get DSL or Cable for internet connection. Or if she wants to spend the money to get a internet connection through a satellite connection.

Thanks

Questions:

1) Does she already have the usb device? If not, then this gets MUCH easier. There are quite a few routers available that will accept a PCMCIA cellular modem and share the internet access.
2) If she DOES have the device, which one SPECIFICALLY is it? there are still a few modems that will accept a USB device and share that as well.

And I think it's Verizon that's offering the card for free and "unlimited" (sorta/kinda) service for $50/mo if you can prove a business name (i.e. Tax Number)

She does already have the USB Based cellular modem, and it only uses USB, it is not a PCMCIA card with a docking station or anything like that. It is about the size of a USB jump drive, but just a little bigger.

So I really need to find out if there is a way to share it through her pc to a wireless router, via a ethernet connection.

Thanks

What brand/model#?

Sorry I am not there right now, I will be going there sometime tonight so I should be able to get it then and I will get back to you.

O but I do know that it is a Verizon.

Thanks

Verizon is $60 a month for 5gb with massive overages. They dropped the unlimited shit after a nasty lawsuit. If she wishes to use it as a primary connection she'll need to stay away from youtube and any sort of p2p like limewire.
