I'm not sure what you are asking about with this. Also, CCleaner and those malware scanners you mentioned don't do the same thing, so they aren't really able to be compared. You also make no mention of what OS you are running, as that will have a huge impact on the answers.

If this is XP, I'd use RegScrubXP and/or CCleaner to clean up registry settings and junk files. Then I'd use any of the free anti-spyware programs, such as Ad-Aware, etc.

If it is Vista, I'd use CCleaner, and then Ad-Aware 2008.

sorry im running xp..i just want a few programs to cover everything i need to worry about such as registry organizing, trojans, ad aware, spy ware

In Vista I use Nod32 and Windows Defender.

Ive had a trojan, but that was my fault because I downloaded a torrent without scanning it first, and then I had UAC turned off for some installs. Live and learn though, eh?

No love for AVG? Heh. I've been installing that in lieu of Avast whenever I do any sort of repair job for someone, mostly because it 'looks' more pro... It sounds incredibly stupid but some people won't actually trust that you can get a decent AV for free so they'll go and do stuff like install Norton after I'm gone, then they'll have two different AV programs going, which always results in a royal mess or a slower system at best. Go figure...

I use JV16 Power Tools on XP and Vista. I am using Antivir antivirus (free) which is very good. I like Nod32 best and have it on one XP machine. I may purchase another liscense when it's time for renewal. I use Windows Defender and Spybot for antispyware and occasionally Ad Aware. My computers stay clean and virus free.
