Auzentech Prelude 7.1 New Driver Release 6/12

The links posted above dont work, does anyone have a working link?

Was updating my server, try the links below again:

Newest Drivers - AZT_XP_VISTA-1_02_5.zip
Last Month's Drivers - zRC5-1_Patch10.zip

In Audio Creation Mode, when using digital optical, if you enable "Front L/F, Back L/F, Front C/Sub" and set to record multi-channel wav, is it a hardware up-mix of the stereo stream to 5.1? A mimic of Pro Logic II?

If I enable just "Front L/F, Back L/F, Front C/Sub", all the channels are duplicated. Meaning, front left, center, and left surround and front right, LEF, and right surround are exactly the same. Only if I enable "Back C/Top and Side L/R" as well is each stream different. But isn't that then more then 5.1 channels? It still record records 5.1 when using them all, but that is ten channels when only six should be used.

Also, I've been sending the above question to Auzentech for awhile now, but never get a reply. Maybe someone here can answer. Does anyone know?

Wow, this is insane. I can't believe they are trying to limit the number of activations. The registration for download and even requiring a serial number...I can live with (retarded but if they are trying to limit driver distribution---whatever). If you try to limit how many times I can reinstall my OS or use several virtual machines, I don't think so. This is MY hardware. I bought it and should be able to use it however I like. Unfortunately I've had the card longer than my return window. Luckily I bought it from newegg and they have always been AMAZING with customer service for me. I am going to call them and explain the situation and try to get a refund.

I've loved the card so far. But some things I just CANNOT support...and this action is one of them. I mean...this is not some pirated copy of software that they need to try and curb distribution or something. It's freaking HARDWARE people...!

I agree, I sent them a support ticket asking how they can limit the amount of times I format MY computer? Anyway, let me know how it goes with newegg when you see if they will let you exchange.

seraphic = teh rocks!

I cut out my serial # for rebate + my card is a pita to take out due to watercooling.

Alright spoke too soon... looks like I have to register for this BS to get DDL. This crap is pissing me off.

I sent them a bitchy email yesterday and recieved one back today with a extra key that will give me 3 more activations, still not good enough.

^ yah i did the same thing (bitchy email) and they sent me a key in this email.

Ticket Subject: Limited number of activations?? . . . . . . . . . . Here is the last response to your ticket:
Dear Colin, Thank you for contacting Auzentech.
Here is another Key for you.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
We are considering the Limit key to unlimit.
Also, we are improving our system to get key easier.
We appreciate your support and patience.
Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to let us know. Sincerely,

Why would you keep it if a feature you wanted - a basic feature that had no reason to NOT work on ANY sound card - didn't work?
loved the sound, thought the drivers were going to be fixed soon... and I had a USB mic laying around for games. No biggie.

For those that don't know, you can call Auzentech on the phone at: Tel: 408-727-6212

The guy who picks up doesn't speak English that well, but he said the reason they added protected DDL is because some hacker reverse engineered the DDL Drivers so that it could be used with any soundcard.

However, I expressed our dislike of the limited keys and it sounds like they are warming up to the idea of unlimited keys for next month's drivers.

He offered to send me a key, but they have not replied to any of my support questions for like three weeks, so I doubt I will get the key.

Anyway, if anyone calls, asking about unlimited keys.

So they're blaming the DDL mess on Daniel_K's drivers... that's really nice of them.

Yep, according to the email below, he provided a way for Creatives customers to use the Auzentech drivers.
This caused Auzentech problems with network traffic.
I dont believe this is the full story but hey, the situ is improving.
Here is the latest reply...

Here is the last response to your ticket:

Dear x,

We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you and other customers. It is related to the fact that one hacker (Daniel K.) spread a module to unlock the DDL function on the Creative X-Fi product owners and he guided all Creative customers to download driver from our website server.

However, we understand that in any ways, this should have affected our customers, and we understand your frustration. We will discuss and find a better solution within days to satisfy our customer.
As for the key limitation, it is only to prevent keys to be spread in the internet. Once registered, we will issue additional key to you upon request.

Again, we are really sorry about this inconvenience, and we will make sure to improve our customer service.

Sincerely,

personally i am really happy that they released these new drivers. for some stupid ass reason that i cant really remember, i never installed the drivers for my prelude :/

i think when i was putting my rig together, i was reading about the new prelude drivers that were supposed to fix a lot of issues that came on the in-box cd driver set, so i just never bothered installing them. after checking auzentech's site to dl drivers, i saw a multiple hour download of 170 megs or so if i remember correctly. said fuck this, and intended on doing it later when i got home.

well, apparently i never did that because when i went to remove my *old* prelude drivers for a clean install of the new ones, they werent there, there was no auzentech folder. i was having an issue the entire time where about 75% of the time when i would boot my pc, the sound wouldnt be there, it would make part of the vista boot sound onto my desktop, and then turn into this horrible processing noise, would take a reboot to fix the problem every time.

what ive learned today: dont do drugs.

lol
I've had times when Windows has rolled back to a previous install point without mentioning it and left me with an old driver and its issues and a scratched head.
Not for the Auzentech mind, it was chipset drivers in one instance and video driver in another.

Thanks for going through all this trouble Seraphic.

I cant believe Auzentech on this one. What is their interest in blaming Daniel_K and creating these anti customer friendly limits?

If Auzentech keeps this stupendous behaviour up, I am not going to spend more money on their products in the future.

Pls read a few posts above this for the latest.
They were engulfed by Creative card owners downloading the 170MB driver because they could hack the driver to work on Creatives cards.
So they restricted downloads only to those who own a Prelude.
They have now confirmed they will supply any number of keys to those registered with them.
Its still a pain in the backside but at least there are no longer any formal restrictions for card owners.

That's one possibility. The other is that DDL is licensed for each installation, meaning Auzen has to pay Dolby Labs a certain fee for each card sold for the feature. Creative choses not to pay this fee. The shutdown could have come from Dolby Labs saying "hey, people who you haven't paid for are using our IP, shut them down."

Well thats what they said but yep, something along the lines of licensing issues could be part of it.

Auzentech went from hero to zero all with one driver package.

You have to blame Creative for this too. If they didn't have such shit drivers, everyone wouldn't be hacking the Auzentech ones. People just want their sound cards to work properly with all the features they paid for. Is that too much to ask?

after all that reg crap and getting ket bull i still get the ddl bah bah bah bah loop bull and tryed dts yea i thought then got bah bah bah bah bah loop bull again lol quality drivers .then i set up analog out (3 cables) too amp was running fine and i find out you get a mic drop out after a few Minutes:mad: i mean how long has this card been out? and there doing a hdmi version of this card. laughable what is that for then nailing too wall till stable drivers come out? i am almost annoyed

What does somone need to do to get DDL working right now on a X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS with the latest drivers? Most of the Daniel K files are gone from hosting... Could someone just download the lastest Creative beta from June 2 or whenever, then the Daniel K DDL unlocker, and the latest Auzentech beta from July 9? If so, where could someone get the latest Prelude driver without all the serial number stuff?

-Thanks

Im pretty sure this is something you can't request / talk about on these forums. Don't want Creative suits knockin on HardOCPs door... so to speak.

Oh god, bring back Aureal, PLEASE!!!!!!... oh hang on, I forgot, Creative sucked them up.

Ha Ha! You used 'Creative' and 'sucked' in the same sentence...:D

Seriously, Auzentech had better not restrict the number of keys. I don't mind registering, I don't mind supplying my serial number. But limited installs is the end.

This is like EA limiting the number of lifetime activations of games. I've sworn to boycott these bastards. I hope I don't have to do the same with Auzentech.
