Anyone else here playing AoC?

I can't warn people enough to stay away from this game, they just keep on screwing over their customers.

I've managed to stick with it enough to level an Assassin to level 80 and have a good grasp of the game, and everytime they patch the damn thing it makes it 10x worse. In the last few weeks we've had lag of pings upto 10,000+ occuring every hour or so, usualy follwed by disconnects.

Funcom were moaned at from every angle to include all changes in the changelog notes and they made a public announcements to say they'd make sure all changes were documented, and they're still stealth nerfing stuff!

Theres massive game breaking bugs where female melee characters attack something like 33% slower which has been known about since beta and a recent note from devs puts expected fix at 3-4 weeks away still!

PvP is completely unbalanced, I got stunned by a same level player the other day and he killed me before the stun wore off, which means essentially I cannot beat that class...All the casters are way too powerful, some classes like the assassin have had no fixes since launch!

Yeah, stay away from this one, funcom ignore all the major problems, introduce significantly more bugs than fixes with each patch and can't tell their arse from their elbow in general.

Roll on Warhammer Age of Reckoning!

Thanks for taking a stand and displaying your crybaby attitude. I've rolled ToS (65), Assassin (72) and Guardian (80)... The game gets better and better. ToS has been hit with massive nerfs, and it was for the better. It's called balancing.

Female assassins are in somewhat of a ditch, but so what? Many others been there, been fixed (or partly). Just be patient, and go play something else for some weeks or whatever. You obviously have no grasp over the concept of how mmorpgs on this scale works.

A lot of my real life gaming buddies tried to get me on board for this game, but I like to think I had the foresight to stay away. Considering the god awful beta and Funcom's track record, I wasn't about to make that leap of faith.

One month later none of them are playing anymore. And yes, now they're salivating over Warhammer as well. ;-)

AoC sucks and so will Warhammer. They are exactly like WoW, which is EXACTLY like EQ. 10 years later same game. Until devs actually take a risk and put some money making a fresh concept instead of just copy WoW (EQ) every MMO till then will die in WoWs shadow.

AoC started well...it's just gone to hell since release, the balance is way off and the bugs and connection issues are too much to bear.

I dont know if you acctually follow WAR but it has a good chance to survive very well. Unlike WoW its not all gear and PvE oriented, its mainly PvP which i think alot of WoW players crave (I know I do) and I think because its not trying to copy WoW but instead focus on the PvP end that WoW screwed up it will do fine and not have to worry to much about WoW.

People having several near max level characters after only what, 2 months? I can tell this game is not for me just by that. I don't see how anyone can feel any accomplishment from a game this easy.

The honest truth with AoC is that FunCom knew they had to get the jump on Warhammer Online... so they released their game in a very beta stage.
By Autumn AoC should be in more of a "retail" state...

Yup, I think WAR has a good chance considering they made DAOC :) . It looks to be shaping up nicely, while AOC looked pretty meh to me the whole way along *shrug*.

You made it to 80? I decided the game sucked horribly at 56 when I discovered that not only where there too few quests to level, but the tiny ass instanced world didnt even have enough mobs to grind on unless you were willing to fight for a spot.

Korean style MMO if you ask me. I had more fun playing Ragnarok Online.
I'm just bummed I spent 110 dollars on the POS. Playing 10 year old D2 gives me more enjoyment. Heck I could get more enjoyment renewing my wow account to sit around town and do a few arena matches.

I'm actually enjoying the heck out of AoC. I have a level 65 Demo and am going to start a PoM soon. I will say though, that the disconnects and lag sometimes bug me, but on average I only disconnected once every couple of days. This is my first MMO, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

No matter what game it is, you will always have your power gamers that go out of their way to level quickly as possible, that's just the way things are. If they were to increase the time it takes to level, who does it really effect, the casual players that are not in a rush as it just takes them exponentially longer to level.

I think it's safe to say that just about any MMO that comes out now, you'll see people hitting max level consistently within a month, at most 2 months.

I canceled before the free month was up. A few friends from another guild asked me to give it a chance so I stuck around for this month. We've hit all the raid content, we've participated in 5 battle keep sieges and I canceled again last week.

Just not fun on any level. The first time through is alright, trying to level a second toon is just horrendously boring and now that they've nerfed the grey quest xp its even worse. The lack of content really shows now this time around while leveling. So basically I'm leveling an alt out in Kheshatta by having the guild aoe level me, nothing like 20 levels in a few hours.

Raids are a cake walk, battle keep sieges are still broken in pretty much every way, and the pvp system is still screwed so they'll be resetting all the pvp points here soon so everyone has to start all over again.

D2 and LoTRO are light years more fun then aoc has been for me.

I'm still enjoying the game. But, I play a Conqueror as my main. So, haven't seen the nerf bat yet (buff bat would be nice).

I've only been DC'd by a 10k lag spike once.

The only thing concerning me right now is that at lvl 55 there just don't seem to be too many quests available anymore.

It's not FUBAR. I think Funcom should spend more time fixing the bugs, adding more quests and content as oppsoed to the class balancing they are focusing on now and little issues (who cares about dancing underwater?). This game isn't going to be as successful as I hoped it would be. And Funcom's behavior since the game was launched it to blame. BUT I still enjoy it and will be playing for quite some time.

Thats not how it works in AOC, the game has very fast leveling, but it is also VERY boring leveling. You dont relish and enjoy the game as you go up. You go "damnit, how can I make this BS go faster". I've heard there is nothing to do end game either though so I just stopped at 56, which I got only playing for a short time after work, and not every day. I still managed that in less than a month... Somone actually playing the game for several hours each day (not an addict, just somone enjoying the game) should be able to hit max level in less than a month easy.

Stopped playing in the mid-50s and havent touched it in like 2 weeks.

Seems to be a common theme.

Have WAR on preorder, that'll be the next thing to disappoint me.

I didn't last more that 2 weeks before I sold it on the bay to recoup some money. It wasn't even buggy for me, there just wasn't any motivation to log in and play.

It was missing that 'X factor' with MMO's that makes you want to keep coming back. There was very little gear advancement, or skills with each level. The quests weren't boring or anything, I just didn't care about playing.

Level 55 Conq here and about to cancel as well. It's become monotonous....however, Ive got about 4 days played and overall, it was worth the 50 bucks I dropped for it.

Bunch of my friends and I had a blast in the beginning...

Then the stealth nerf... then another then another

All feat breaking nerfs and combo nerfs.

I shelved my ranger in the mid 50's 3 weeks ago and have had a huge blast of real life to keep me away and I checked the patch notes and NOTHING has been fixed for my class.

I am cancelling the account for now until they actually quit breaking things (the latest being rangers immolation bug). Assasins the poor class need some love too =(

i'd cut them a little slack.

as far as capital cities go, i'd love to have all 6 of them in as well. Sad loss but I'll live.

I'm sure Mark will publicly explain thoroughly behind every decision, just be patient and don't jump the gun.

Also, from the gamer standpoint, about the 4 classes.. you (not speaking directly to you but people in general) really shouldn't be completely heartbroke or compare "man EAMythic has had so much time to make WAR and uber fails and Blizz finished the classes for WoW so easily without any cuts ".

Keep in mind in WAR, each side has 10 (used to be 12) unique classes. UNIQUE. Blizz has 9 total classes, mirrored exactly on both sides. Granted, everyone would love all the classes to be in, but they're really doing an amazing job spending their time balancing both sides so that RvR is pretty fair on both sides despite the fact that there are 20 unique classes total @ launch.

Trying to balance 20 unique classes > Trying to balance 18 identical classes

All in all, i'm dissapointed sure. It's not the end of the world though and certainly not going to cause the end of WAR.

I'm enjoying it. I had a female assassin first, but it sucked, so I made a DT and am now on a Barbarian in mid 30s. I went back to the assassin and tried again, and it turns out I'd just been playing it like a retard. I can cope now.

I'm enjoying it.

sounds like someone is getting owned

p.s. pvp happened on a pvp server?

dude I've had the game since lauch and I am only lvl 11. The game simply can not draw me in.

Imo, too much complaining goes on for this game, I have a level 80 ToS, lvl 76 Necro and I'm still having fun in the game. I am on a PVP server and pvp is awesome, sure there are balancing issues etc, but the game is still very young and promising.

Still playing and PvP is still great even with a melee class. I cringe even thinking about going back to WoW and War looks like poo. There's nothing left out there so gonna stick it out till the end of this year should be retail polished by then (GG FC).

Reading half this thread I feel as if I'm playing a different game than some of the rest of you.

I come from an SWG background, and unless funcom comes to my house, kicks me in the nuts, and ball bats my computer, I can't think of much in the way of inconvenience that they could really level me with.

Not compared to Galaxies, oh no. NO NO NO. Galaxies you could log in and overnight a character class could be completely gone, your character skillset COMPLETELY changed, the entire control scheme revamped, or the leveling and grouping systems completely different (three times if I recall before quitting)

This is small taters, all this shit thats happening. I was never a WoW kid, so maybe that helps? I don't know.

Anyhow, I've got a 50 assassin (female, yes the attack speed thing sucks. hasn't kept me from enjoying it, took youtube to point it out as well), a 25 HoX, 25 Barb, and I'll roll a ranger eventually. If one thing stymies me, I switch characters, or take a break. I like the fact that I'm not so sucked into it that I obsess constantly about it.

Personally, the casual quest based leveling system is the thing I like the best about it. It allows me to play in small or large stretches. Loot is there if you run dungeons, or search the traders, and the game is still way way way early to be written off.

Agreed, their focus seems a bit off, and they need to tell us whats broke and what ain't when they patch, but I still really enjoy it. Oh, and I guess I am bummed about the nerfing of grey quests for my lowbie characters.

Betcha they repeal that decision though.

Some big pvp changes like LOS for casters and no more damage rollback for melee coming in the next patch. Look em up. Melee will be able to strafe against casters and use the terrain to spell interrupt. Some nice changes coming for melee.

Yeah I did get owned, but not because he had any skill, because it's imbalanced, he hits me with a stun immediately, which lasts long enough for him to kill me, how is that even remotely fair?

There is no end game content, seiges are broken, theres no risk vs reward in PvP, PvP balance is incredibly bad to begin with anyway, due to the drop in population after the first free month was up there's not enough players at 80 to form decent raids. Lag and disconnects are frequent especially in the level 80 areas (the whole server disconnects btw). theres not enough solo quests to take you to level 80 alone you have to grind or try and get groups together for the group quests but thats almost always impossible due to the bullshit they've pulled with elite mobs doing huge amounts of damage under certain conditions.

Just sick of Funcoms clear lies to the gamers, Im sick of them not listening to the community when the whole forum is screaming at the top of their lungs FIX THE FUCKING FEMALE ATTACK SPEED and funcom are just waiting it out, a month later they finnaly aknowledge it and tell us its going to be another month before its fixed.

We PAY these people, well...to be more accurate, you pay them now, they're not having my money, I doubt I'll go back to this game, especially when the sub is more expensive than something like WoW and they offer a much worse experience.

Waiting for WAoR, sounds good tbh, go watch their podcasts on how their systems work, everything from RvR to the smallest of things like how quests work, its all really well thought out.

This is my experience. The quest levelling system feels like Oblivion, which I like.

The only thing that seems broken is grouping. If there are two of you, and one is three or four levels below, and you do their quest to help them through it, they get about 1XP a kill. If they do yours, they die loads.
If you both have the same quest in your journal, you can't share it, but both of your kills/loots count toward both. If you share a quest - if you manage to be able to fucking share a quest - whatever it is you're meant to be picking up doesn't count towards both, you have to wait for it to respawn so everyone in the group can get it.

Otherwise: hurrah. Fun, except how they gave Rangers Root Immunity. A class that attacks you from a distance is also capable of immobilising you so you don't have any chance of defending yourself. Good choice.

As Assasin, you're meant to be initiating fights using your Hide, or you're fucked. If you do that and take a chunk out of them, you can use your combos and poison stance or whatever, and dodge to avoid stuns and things.

A friend of mine doesn't like AoC. He's a big-time WoW gamer, and couldn't understand my answer to his question of 'what's the best class?'. He simply cannot comprehend that it's not a case of clicking on a target, and clicking your icons until they die; it's how you play it. I've killed people eight levels above me, and been killed by people the same below me. I got outplayed - not because they used the right spell at the right time or drank more potions or whatever, but because they blocked at the right moments, dodged at the right moments, and used their shield bars well.

I did strike from hidden, the initial swing missed despite being right behind him, and him being still...

You can't "dodge" stuns, even if you could there's no indication of when they're going to do one.

It's a simple case of that class being way too over powered, theres no amount of skill in the equation, he 1 click stuns and has 15 seconds to choose how to kill me, note that the effect lasts 15 seconds, but I actually died way before then.

You say this isnt a 1 click game, but clearly thats what that character has, a 1 click stun and win move, if the devs can let this sort of thing happen then they don't know what they're doing and should just scrap the entire system and start again.

15 seconds? What class was he, and was it the 'stun' (whirling white nonsense above your head) or root immunity (legs pinned ot the ground)?

In response to the group thing YES YES YES. I forgot about that little issue, as most of my playing friends are similar or same level. If a creature cons 'grey' to the highest level character, no xp for anybody. Yes, without fail, that sucks.

Rangers, yeah. They suck too, from a 'playing against them' point of view. In all honesty, if one of us is having trouble with one, we just double team them. Unless you are a healer/caster, once they root you it's all but over if you're solo.

And yeah I love the paper rock scissors aspect of the classes, theres no fun in complete balance, and I don't think there should be, as there is really no such thing without making everybody the same but with different special effects. I like being a support class, or a burst DPS class, or the guy who goes first and tanks. I like the game because there are distinct differences between the classes.

And yeah, I've been owned by people way lower, and also killed people way higher. Makes things interesting. There will always be someone stronger, or better. I love cleaning some gankers clock who at 20 is griefing 10's, or 40 griefing 20's etc.

Also, much of the game is made so much better by the fact that I have 6 friends playing it. So, maybe I've got rose colored glasses on.

My guess is a barb (whom as an assassin I give wide berth to), or maybe a solider class. And if it was a soldier class, Frostex must have been feeling his oats, to think of trying that one out.

I'm hoping it's a barbarian, because my stun only lasts about 3 seconds so far. If it gets to that long later on, I'll be loving it.
