Hey guys,

So since I finally ventured into HD TV shows and decided to hook up a computer to my 42" Panasonic HDTV. I hooked it up via a DVI->HDMI connection and I was able to get some output at 800x600 resoltuion at 60hz.
When it displayed, the whole screen was tinted red. Does anyone know how I can fix this red tint? I tried it on my CRT that I had, and the bottom corners also had a slight red tint, but nothing as bad as the TV.

The specs are as follows:
Intel P4 2.8ghz
Radeon 9800pro
1gig of Value Ram

PS:
I know that it isn't the best HTPC, but I am upgrading it to an AMD 3800+ X2 along with a 7800GTX.

Thanks!

Bad cable maybe?

I'll try out a different computer and see if that helps.
BTW, the max res for the TV is 720p/1080i. What resolution is that in terms of a monitor? (like 1280 x 720, etc)

Update:
The cable is good. I tried it out using my rig in my sig and everything worked okay. The only thing is: when I hook it up via HDMI, the desktop is not flush with the screen. The corners are off of the screen and that causes the image to be distorted. Anyone know how to fix this?
I found that the least distortion was from 1280x720 (it said that was the TV's native res) so I'm assuming that I should stick with that res?

you need to find out what the best pc resolution is for your tv. read the manual. pc resolution and tv resolutions are not the same. some of the newer true lcd tv's do have the same resolutions but not all.

It actually sounds like theres something wrong with the video card; if the card is outputting an image that is bathed in red while your rig doesn't and the cable checks out then there might be something wrong with the card.

I checked out the manual and googled up the resolution, but i couldn't find anything. The monitor is a plasma screen also. This is the model: Panasonic th42px60u.

@CrimandEvil
I tried out my other rig (with an x1600 i think) and it worked fine, so yes I think it's the video card that is causing the problems.

When I tried with the x1600, the screen showed up fine and CCC allowed me to change to an "optimized" resolution of 1366x768 (I think) for 720P. It looked much sharper than 1280x720, however, no matter what resolution I chose I still had the problem of the desktop not being flush with the screen. This time with the ATi card, the desktop is too small (it does not stretch to the window). Any help is greatly appreciated!!

There are adjustments on a per-display basis in CCC,.take a look around in there and see if you can't expand the image to fill the screen. 1366x788 is probably the res you should stick with,
