Well when my kid is old enough to use the computer I intend to manage a whitelist and NOT a blacklist.
its alot easier that way. IF they want to view a site you check 1st and if you are ok with it add it to your exception list
For 11 and 13 year olds, a standard filter (keeping out teh pr0n and such) and a briefing on internet security (personal and computer, like viruses and such) should be sufficient. Just make it a good filter because a 13 year old can figure out how to download firefox.
Whitelisting a 13 year old is a bit restrictive. Just get a good filter: http://internet-filter-review.toptenreviews.com/
Although honestly, I personally think that most 13 year olds are getting to the age where they should start being a little more responsible (a porn blocker is perfectly acceptable though), but of course I don't know you or the child.
Let's just say I don't want him to grow up to be a sex fiend like me.
lolz - but I meant only block the porn, let him go to (almost) every other site (I just mean don't make a whitelist, that's so restrictive)
