Halo,

I just received my NEC 2690 and I have calibrated the LCD with the spectra view. Im using Sony SZ 670N with VGA to DVI cable, connected to the NEC

After calibration, I realized that some part of white (around RGB 242-242-242) has a magenta shift. My model picture looks like have red/magenta highlight in the forehead. All the other color seems right, just the highlight area( only certain area in the hightlight) if I open a white notepad background, it is still white)

Can someone help me with this problem?

Thanks,
Dan

What calibration probe did you use? And what bout the ambient lighting?
AFAIK current calibration probes are not entirely suitable for wide-gamut monitors.

I use i1 photo but i did not calibrated with ambient lighting.

here is the magenta im talking about:

that part suppose to be white. I reset the monitor and it was green. after another calibration it is red. the red bleeds everywhere, sometime i can see it in the grey as well such as in photoshop tools window

Can someone help me? do I have a defective NEC?

Thanks

Your link doesn't work, just FYI (says image is protected by owner).

I would say contact NEC or the store you bought it from about it.

Now its visible. :)

That part is supposed to be grey, not white.

The red tint you are having is due to calibration of the grey scale.

Your calibrator is not ment for wide gamut screens, so white point (color temp) will be off on Eye1D2 it was about 500K difference according to Karl Langs measurements.
The fault here is in the gamma curve/tonal response curve I believe with red being too dominant. Enter the advanced menu (turn off the screen, then power it on while holding in the input button. Press menu and the advanced menu will appear).

Make sure that the gamma selection/tag 5 is on PRG (programmable).
Enter the preferences section in Spectraview 2 and choose factory measurements as primary colors chromaticity source. Try with 7000K as a target instead of 6500K or D65.

Edit:
You can also eyeball it with using Spectraviews "custom white point" as target, getting white looking as white as possible before calibration.

okay thanks i will try to do what you said

btw is this common problem? i dont think this has been mentioned in the nec2690 threads.

should I exchange the LCD?

i have tried your instruction
the gamma selection/tag 5 is already on on PRG

i tried 7000k, it gives me delta E of 1.20
i tried to sample the white balance it gives me .50 delta E

both still has the red tint

im desperate for help :(

The problem is probably because you are using analog VGA video and not digital DVI as recommended. Make sure you are using the latest version 1.0.42 of SpectraView. Also before you calibrate you should try operating the AUTO CONTRAST control on the OSD.

Use the built-in test pattern in SpectraView to check for banding issues on the greyscale.

thank you!!

I download the latest version of spectraview and it fixes the problem

i do have some question. which one is best? maximize contrast ratio or best greyscale color tracking? and calibration sensor or factory measurement?

Thanks

I usually use specific level of 140cdm/2 as the intensity, d65 and a specific gamma curve of 2.2. Sometimes I hit the "edit" button and use an SRGB color curve as well. I use the "monitor default" for contrast ratio.

Go for best grayscale colour tracking.

I use 120cd/m2, gamma 2.2, 6500K on my 2690. Ignore any options for calibration in regards to contrast ratio.

Nothing wrong with using the L* gamma for calibration. I always used a gamma of 2.2 when calibrating monitors before I got my 2690 and I have stuck with that.
