I saw one on mini-itx.com , so I decided Why not? , and finally got started when tmclaugh started his. My dad's got plenty of ammo cans, and now I've got a portable waterproof computer.

It's not done yet,to do:
-get laptop cd drive adapter <--ordered
-mount the other hard drive
-mount cd drive
-mount drive cage









took about 10 minuites once I got all the parts, including riveting in the psu bracket
 
Holy shit!!! Thats one extreme makeover....but once your fully done and completed the thing...I reckon that thing will be nice as! n1

Besides wats the specs in the machine?
 
thanks, its a dothan 1500, with 512MB of ram, intel extreme graphics 2, 40GB seagate, and 60GB maxtor and will soon have a 10X cd drive from a old NEC versa laptop.

Hearing those specs...makes me want to do a similar mod with my Pentium 3 server now..lols....but where can I get a ammocan? BTW...don't mention Ebay...thats full of scam!:mad:
 
Fleet farm sells them, and you will need a mini itx or smaller motherboard, nothing bigger will fit.

Or a 20MM ammocan, but those are harder to find.
 
Army surplus stores are your friend. I grabbed one for a project a few years back for $10 IIRC.

Nice start best, I just hope you have some patience and some sharp tools for however you plan on cutting access holes in the top.

I'm not gonna, the idea is to have it waterproof and run with the top open, I even put silicone in the pop rivets to waterproof them.

My part still hasn't come. I'll put the last drive in [a 160GB maxtor], and check the mailbox at 3:00 and it might be there.

How's that for an update? :p

EDIT: looked and it wern't thar, ARRRR! I be pissed! :ROTF: <- dang! that doesn't come in every vbullitin forum:(
