Crysis plays fine on the rig in the sig at all High and 2x AA. Noticably choppy here and there, but nowhere near unplayable.

So what's the deal with all this I hear about Crysis bringing the latest hardware "to its knees"?

Put everything to Very High with max AA,then report back..

Yeah, with my rig, i can max out all the settings (all very high), but when it comes to even turning AA on, my pc just about shits itself :p

Try playing multiplayer on those settings. You will get annihilated.

1. Play at 1920X1200
2. Turn everything on Very high and up AA.
3. Play the last boss...

lol

I haven't touched the game since 2 weeks after release. When I did play it, it was awful. Newer drivers fixed it somewhat, was playable on high. Anyway, has it got that much better?

Was there supposed to be an Ultra High setting that they left out of the game because no Hardware at the time the game was released could run it on that setting?
Is this true? If so, will they be releasing an Ultra Update patch or somthing like that ?

LOL. For my system it was still a bit choppy at 1680x1050, no AA, medium to high settings. The rest of the game was fairly smooth, though.

everyone has different ideas of whats playable. consistent 20fps is way to slow for me. I need solid 30's with occasional dips to 20 is ok...but solid 20's with dips into the teens? thats an f'in slideshow to me and im an old man. I couldn't get better than 20 average even with medium settings on high end hardware. POS.

The latest drivers and patches for the game have helped it a lot. I didn't notice any problems with it when I was playing the unpatched version. I play all high at 1280x1024 tiny resolution but it gets the job done.

The problem is that some people want to run it at max settings, at insane resolutions with AA. If they can't, then the game sucks and it's poorly coded.

Yes, Crysis runs pretty well on current hardware, even if not with max settings. I personally played Crysis (with the system in my sig, which is almost 3 years old) @ 1024x768 with 2-3 settings @ high and the rest at medium, with acceptable performance.

People get their panties in a bunch because they feel they should be able to turn everything to the highest settings (no matter the visual quality) and then start crying when it doesn't run well.

i can play it @ 1600x1200 everything on high and get a consistent 28FPS, with some choppiness here and there, but not extreme.

Same for me. I can turn a couple to very high and a couple to medium if I want.

I don't seem to notice low fps..

I don't seem to notice low fps..

didn't notice they were low because it didn't bother you, or it never got that low?
if ~20fps doesn't bother you, more powah to you. I wish I didn't notice.

I've got a 17" monitor that can only do a max of 1280x1024, so I can run Crysis fairly well with almost everything on high.

Of course, I just installed the game yesterday (yeah I'm a bit late), so I haven't played with those settings too much.

I didn't bother checking the FPS until I had beaten the game twice. When I checked the FPS I was suprised that it was less than 30. It usually averaged around 26-28, the only time I really noticed was in the Conn tower on the carrier. Otherwise the FPS was pretty stable.

Very High plays the about the same, but I don't have Vista so I had to tweak those files to get it to work like that.

And yeah I guess I forgot to mention I'm playing at 1680x1050, but even with 2x AA I find it quite playable at High/Very High on XP. I guess it's because my monitor isn't as big as all of you guys!

Also, I thought that Crysis was a pretty good game, and not deserving of the bashing some of you guys give it. The story was lame, but that hasn't exactly been the strong suit of the FPS genre so I can forgive it. The worst thing about this game was the AI, every thing feels so immersive and realistic, until you deal with the AI, who won't behave intelligently at all. But other than that the game was great. Lots of awesome little details, like being able to cut down trees with machinegun fire and things like that I thought were really cool.

Not to be a pain in the Arse but when I do a google search for "Ultra High Setting in Crysis" I get mixed info. The answers range from "yes, Ultra will be added later" to "No" or "Very High is the Ulta setting" ???
So does anyone know for shure ?
I am leaning tword Very High is as High as it will be going. What do you [H]ard people know ?

My guess is that Crytek isn't going to put much more effort into the Crysis series, ever since they said they aren't going to be PC exclusive anymore. I doubt they will be doing anything like an ultra high patch for Far Cry.
