Hi,

I was just looking at the Vista Performance Info & Tools details page, and I noticed the page noted my graphics card had 512mb of Dedicated Graphics Memory, and 1791mb Shared Memory. Giving me a total of 2303mb of Available Graphics Memory

Isn't a 3870x2 card meant to have 1gb of dedicated graphics memory? What's this shared memory about?

I'm running Vista 64-bit if that helps.

thanks:)

The 3870X2 or any card in crossfire or any Nvidia card in SLI is limited to the amount of ram on one individual card.

True, thats because both cards have the same thing in there memory, so when you SLI you dont get twice the memory. As for the shared memory I think you can set that in your bios.

Oh, I see.. Shared memory, what should be the optimum memory be at?

I think shared memory is the total available memory from your SYSTEM after the resources used up by the windows OS?

Assuming you have 2GB of ram, windows is using about 300-400 megs of ram? (that seems very light lol)

vista always show that information in that way...
The shared memory includes the pagination file and the amount of ram.
