52" 1080p HDTV

Are there any price cuts coming towards high definition televisions in the 52" size range?
What is the best time to purchase a high definition television? Before Christmas (September, October), after Christmas (January, February)?

What is the better buy out of these 2:

I've just started researching 1080p TVs, and people on AVforum seem to love Olevias.

I don't know anything about the Hanns-G, but I have a 245BW and I'm not happy with it. It won't do 4:3 with an 8800GTS so if you play any non-widescreen games you're out of luck. Nvidia has a registry hack to enable 4:3 scaling but it only works sometimes and requires a reboot.

My other beef with the 245BW is the vertical viewing angle. It blows. I might not be a typical user because I often sit back on my couch to watch movies on it. This puts my line of vision a bit below the center of the monitor even with the stand as low as it goes and the monitor tilted down. From this angle the colours go completely to hell -- it's not so noticeable on the web and in text documents but very pronounced with images and video. Sitting farther back would help but 24" is too small to watch from 10' away IMO. Viewing angles from above center are much more forgiving, so take that into account. Based on the 245BW I would not buy a TN panel again.

Thank you for the incite about AVForums opinion.

I asked in ##hardware at Freenode, and I was told a TN panel is fast, but poor quality.
I just want a monitor that is 1920x1200, that has good quality, and maybe play a game here or there.

I am torn. Get a nice monitor for my PC then hook the PS3 up to it, or buy a nice HDTV and hook the PS3 up to it.

I love the battle between the two. :) I may just get both.
 
It may worth to spend some time looking at the Pioneer's Kuro 50" which is known to be the best HDTV ever.
There is a huge thread about the Kuros on the AVSForum.
 
Well for one thing it's not an LCD :p I have no idea how good or bad DLP is for gaming.
