How important are SLI supporting brackets?

I'm asking because I lost mine for my mobo, and I plan to be going SLI in the next couple of days. Here is what I'm talking about:

It's the thing holding the SLI connector in place. I found both of my SLI connectors, but wasn't able to find this. Am I fine without it, or will a bump while I'm playing a game knock it out and cause my frames to drop by 1/2? :p

From what I remember, some of the older ASUS boards used this (when SLI was new) to prevent the connector from falling off due to a physical board design flaw (which had the connector fall off).

As for today's modern boards, imo I don't think it is necessary, but if you are moving your case around a lot, it couldn't hurt.

thats what thats for?? i never knew that, i had one from my msi board.

I always wondered what they were used for. I had 2 of them in my spare parts bag at one point. But whatever, I have had my SLI Bridge in with no problems what so ever...

I never had one and havent had any issues with my bridge falling off. The new bridges fit pretty snug.

That would come in handy if you went to LAN parties. Unless you're constantly moving your case around, the bridge is snug enough by it's self to not need that support.
It's more than likely a sometime included method OEMs use to make sure the SLI is still enabled after the system arrives.

Never had a problem with the bridge falling off my SLI setup.

I remember those from a long time ago, I don't think they did much.

It is not necessary; in fact, if you have one of the newer flexible "ribbon" type connectors, you couldn't use it anyway.

I haven't used the holder in several years. The bridges fit very snugly.
