DoubleSight DS-263N - 26"

stocks back in on the egg.

anybody else gonna bite?

i'm really tempted, but i'm curious as to whether this new batch includes the polarizer or not.

Polarizer or not, this monitor is still an H-IPS which is highly superior to both PVA and TN.

I've got it pre-ordered at Buy.com because it's got free shipping. Hopefully they get in tomorrow.

Ordered mine from newegg when they had stock for an hour last Friday and it arrived yesterday night. Mine came with the polarizer for those who are wondering.

I'm biting.

Fuck the polarizer. I'll polarize that shit myself.

is it actually possible to add the polarizer in later?

I just bit... Will keep you posted on the polarizer.
many thanks. fortunately neweggs usually great w/ shipping.

true. i just figure it may be worth waiting to see if its included again. for what i need the monitor for, id like to have the ability to have wider, non-discolored viewing angles (not that they're particularly bad), but id still gladly settle for a non-polarized version.

EDIT: many thanks, chineseman!! looks like ill be biting (hopefully).

I'm just concerned with NewEggs return policy on dead pixels. What would my options be if I got one with 3 or 4 dead pixels dead center?

i believe that DoubleSight has great customer service for returning your monitor.

but dont quote me on that.

I'm getting the extended service plan.

This, according to what I read, allows you to return the product no matter what. And since I don't even know if I'll like the wide gamut look, this is the option I'm choosing (well worth the 50 bills)

Oh, do they?

Can anyone comment if this extended service plan would be required to return this display then?

As for the person asking about the polarizer - I was just joking about polarizing it myself.

Heh... How much money did the Egg just make off of [H]?

That's what, four of us?

From today, I wonder how many got one (or more) last Friday when they had a small stock in. I know a few got some, I have very high hopes for this monitor and will have to wait a few until I get to push it fully but until then I can still use it on my laptop. :D

Anyone?

If noone responds in 20 minutes, I'll just click buy.

I'm not risking this being out of stock again :)

[LCD Monitor] Limited Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy

* Return for refund within: non-refundable
* Return for replacement within: 30 days
* There must be a minimum of 8 dead pixels to declare an LCD display defective and eligible for return.

This is our detailed [LCD Monitor] Limited Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy. Products that state "This item is covered by Newegg.com's Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy", or items labeled as “Non-refundable” (or similar labeling) must be returned to Newegg.com within 30 days of the invoice date for this policy to apply. Products covered by this return policy may only be returned for a replacement of the same item.

Newegg.com sells many products such as Notebooks and Monitors that feature LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screens. Newegg.com adheres to the dead-pixel policy that is observed by the majority of our manufacturers. In order to declare any product with an LCD screen "defective" and eligible for replacement or refund through any applicable Newegg.com Return Policy, there must be a minimum of 8 (eight) dead LCD pixels.

This is the limited return policy they have, basically if you buy it you can only get another one if something is wrong with your current one. The warranty is limited but the price at Newegg is hard to beat, Amazon is selling it for 750(+).

Edit: No, I choose not to get the service plan and just try my luck, if something goes wrong and Newegg wants to be difficult I will fall back on DS for support or replacement. I plan on keeping this monitor but at the worst I will just do replacements if mine is not working "properly."

So you feel DS is strong enough to lay back on replacement wise?

Yeah, I read the description of the warranty, yet I still can't make up my mind. I know how tricky some of these companies can be.

I am a very trusting person, sometimes to much, so I see DS honoring my purchase (from Newegg) and fixing any problems I have if need be. Now I could have the worse experience ever with them, but I am up for taking the risk if it does reach that level. Tomorrow night (when I have my monitor) I could open up a beautiful monitor with zero problems and enjoy it for years to come, never know unless you try.

I don't usually jump on bandwagons, but this one is too tempting. I also placed my order from the Egg. As of 5:20 pm EDT, they still show the DS-263 in stock. I've been monioring Buy.com, Amanzon, and Provantage, but none of these others show any signs of getting inventory.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed about the polarizer, but it seems that most of the new recipients are reporting it is included. I'll report back when mine comes in.

I've never had a problem with Newegg's return policies, even if they say they'll charge a restocking fee etc they never do when I actually send it back. Maybe it's because I've spent several thousands of dollars there over the past seven years they don't give me much grief after they pull up my customer file :D

From what I have read DS has taken care of most people who have had a few dead pixels. They requiring proof because people were sending them back just because they were not receiving one with the polarizer.

Thanks guys - just went ahead and purchased mine without the extended warranty...hope it was the right choice.

I'll report back also once I get mine!

And from what I've read this polarizer simply effects the viewing angles? If I don't get one, will it really matter that much?

no, not really.

What is Buy.com return policy like? Do they stick you with a 15% restocking fee if you need to return it. Newegg basically had a NO RETURN policy when I purchased my DS a few months ago. I had to sell it here on this forum. I'm thinking hard about getting another one because I miss the color space. The Soyo VA monitors I have work well but nothing comes close to the DS in terms of color and viewing angles.

I'm just curious, but why did you sell it?

Has anyone found a dual monitor mount for this bad-boy? Or a full articulating one that doesn't cost several hundred dollars?

Zetherin,

What bugged me about this montiror was on this and the NEC S-Ips 26" monitors there are thin horizontal lines in the backround (screen effect). It's in the backround and you notice it mostly when you have grey on the screen.. but there were times when editing a photo that it became distracting. My eyes are super sensitive to this type thing and couldn't filter it out. Toast-X noted this in a previous post as well. In fairness, I really didn't give the monitor enough time to get used to it. The SOYO's are actually great, but I miss the size and color the DS had. So now I'm thinking maybe giving it another shot.

I ordered Friday night from Buy.com, and they don't have 'em yet. It's about $40 cheaper than Egg if you use a $10 off coupon (google buy.com coupon).

Other notes:
PCNation charges sales tax for CA and MA, unless you pay $35 or so to route through another warehouse.

TheNerds is in FL and doesn't charge CA sales tax. I'd think they're lower priority than Egg and Buy for getting shipments, especially since they're probably being imported through Long Beach. Every once in a while the site says they have 100 in stock, but quickly goes back to "No Stock".

Always fucking something...

You never found a way to dissipate it? Did you try many things?

You're so funny. You sold your old one and want a new one. You complain about it and want to give this another shot...interesting...Hope you get lucky this time. I'm waiting later this year to upgrade my lcd.

Heh yeah I think it's you super sensitive guys that trigger these extreme return policies :D I want it! No, no... wait, I'm returning it. NO HOLD ON! Ok gimme it. Ok wait no...

Meanwhile I shouldn't talk, I'm being way too picky myself. I shoulda just ordered it last night when I had the chance now it's out of stock again. Doh :D

By the way I saw that if you go here they send you here for a 5% off coupon and you can get it from Buy.com for 665.99. I may do that if they get it in before NewEgg.

Thanks. I canceled my order with buy.com and put in a new one with the coupon. I lost my place in line, but since I've waited this long, might as well get it for $15 cheaper.

My DS-263N just arrived. (I ordered from the first restock at Newegg and I am on the east coast.) As far as I can tell, no dead pixels! I am so relieved!

I ordered one from Newegg last night...
I'm looking forward to it's arrival - the BenQ G2400W I purchased drove me absolutely insane with the terrible viewing angles(Ugh, TN). Apparently I'm more sensitive to that sort of thing than I would have thought.

S-IPS here I come...

Of course, I can't help but wonder if having Dual 24's for the same price would have been worth the TN struggles.

It was in stock as of 5pm yesterday, so it must have sold out ONCE AGAIN.

Hah. Its instances like this that I hope will show LCD manufacturers just how popular good IPS panel monitors are.

Two quick questions, and I apologize if these have both been asked already but this thread is quite HUGE so its possible I missed the answer while speed reading through.

1). How is the 1:1 pixel mapping on this? Does it work on both DVI ports? Does it work well out of the box? Should I be looking for a particular date or expecting a firmware upgrade before its functional?

2). Is there any way to check what retail outlets have this monitor on sale? I'd like to be able to get it at a brick and mortar so I can see it before it buying, and possibly return it quickly if need be.
