Rumor Has It

I had never even heard of this place until I read it here. If it's true, it's a bummer, I hate to see any company (unless it was a really bad company) have to go out of business.

No club IT, yet Newegg still does not offer local picks in NJ, yet charge me sales tax if you will. I was trying to avoid you Newegg, you fuckers.

Fry's. Where the fuck are you in the East coast? Hurry the fuck up already.

Thanks ClubIT, for great prices and an alternative to fuck taxes from Newegg, shipping my package out to Philly and back to NJ

There are 2 frys in Atlanta, and just so you know, only the Fry's in CA can do indoor pickup, everyone else have to get it shipped.

If you want to deal with resealed returned crap, go to Frys.

It's sort of sad if PC Club is going out of business, but I think the ClubIT part will survive. PC Club has gone downhill ever since the owner/founder died.

I buy most of my computer stuff from Newegg, Zipzoomfly and MWave. MWave is local and allows for local pickup. I hope Newegg does it in the future.

yeah, and Atlanta is still a long ways off. Fuck you Newegg.

I don't know about ClubIT's e-mail, but if you call up their customer service, they usually answer pretty quickly (at least they did when I called a couple of weeks ago).

Too bad if this turns out to be true. Their prices were competitive or better than NewEgg and their site layout is a lot more modern than Directron.

Actually come to think of it, when I called them (it was over an item that hadn't shipped), the CS rep apologized and said that they temporarily misplaced the item while moving things out of their warehouse. At the time, I assumed they meant clearing out some things for the "Spring Cleaning" promo, but now I have to wonder...

(btw, I received the item and it was just fine, so no Monarch-style scammyness)

Oh don't remind Me, I tried buying 3 PC cases from them just before Monarch went out of business, I lost nearly $500 on those 3 cases(I've lost money elsewhere too, But that was a 1st for Me). Now days I try to limit My purchases to 3 places, actually two really(Newegg and eWiz(eWiz changed their name recently too)) , But whose counting as the 3rd really is like a collection of places, But thats ebay, I just bought an Aquarium, Stand & 3 glass lids from an ebay store in CA and Yeah I'm going to pick It up & pay in person. :D

The solution, I would think, is to pay with a credit card. If you don't receive the product, ask for a charge back and get a credit.

Unless people are not receiving product, I think it's safe to order from them, but use a credit card, and not through Paypal or Google Checkout.

Fry's clearly marks items that have been returned, EVEN IF it's never been opened. I've returned stuff, and the sticker goes on the box before I got my refund.

enlighten me, O wise one.

One example of how frys works...

I had to RMA some Corsair ram when I was living in Sunnvale CA, the ram came from Frys but I didn't have a reciept so I RMA'd direct to Corsair, and their facility was just 10 minutes from where I lived so I took it over there and dropped off the ram, came back few hrs later when they were done and decied the stuff i brought em was fried. I got to talking with one of the ram techs at the back door where the pickup is at and he asked me where I got the ram, told em Frys, he flat out told me not to buy any ram from them, because they had never once recieved an RMA of their ram products from Frys, meaning that if you return ram to Frys, all they do is put it back in the package and onto the shelf and resell it.

Little off topic, but what the hey.

No word from Club IT as to the contrary this morning.....and emails were sent.

I prefer competition to lack thereof, even though Newegg does provide great service and prices.

I agree that competition is good, but if PC Club and Club IT are to go under, then maybe there was too much strong, quality competition for the market to support in the first place.

I never had occasion to use PC Club or Club IT, so I can't judge their value, but if they can't make it maybe the problem wasn't their service but simply a glut of quality choices with consumers choosing to spend thier dollars elsewhere.

Newegg has always been a great answer for me, but I have used others including zipzoomfly and even amazon for component purchases successfully, too.

It'd be too bad if ClubIt.com went under. I order from their site quite often because they are cheaper than NewEgg some times.

I'm hoping for the best.

With the downturn in the economy I expect a large portion of this industry to disappear.
Businesses are cutting back BIG time or going out of business all together. Regular consumers can not keep up a business like this.

Kidos I expect your parents to tighten up spending soon if not by the end of the year. If your a parent time to do it now unless you have the means to support everyone for the next year and a half. Here come 1982 all over again but a wee bit worse.
I am not a doomsday person but its best to be prepared than not.

Thank you greedy banks for fking up all the fun for us.

C-ya in 2 years.

damn PC club was great when I was in a bind and needed something asap. Even so they prices have been getting better and better.

That might explain why I still have not received my 5$ rebate from them, I may have to call and see where it's at. They have had some good deals around.

Wow. Thats shitty :( I've directed a few people to them after the good reviews from random [H] folks saying they were good. Oh well, Newegg 100% of the way for suggestions then until confirmed otherwise. :(

I was very happy with the couple of large orders I made from ClubIT. I would have ordered more from them, but they had too limited of a selection. There are so many times that only New Egg (and usually Directron) carry the exact item I want. I kept on going back to New Egg even though I preferred ClubIT's service. Its the same thing with ZZF.

They still owe me two MIRs... from 3 months ago. Chimei finally sent me both of the ones they owed me and Clubit still hasn't... guess im out ~30 bucks (so long I cant even remember how much they were for lol)

Despite the lack of selection on some things, I had no trouble ordering with ClubIT. I got all three of my Q6600 G0s from there because they guaranteed I would get G0s and I believe the price at the time was at least as good as newegg. I was also able to get copies of Quake Wars for a couple people through those purchases as at the time they were offering the game for free with a purchase of a Q6600 Retail.

I know that, but sometimes it's hard to find something that hasn't been returned before from a shelf full of returned products. Sometimes you have to wonder why there's so many returned items.

This is sad that TigerDirect isn't out of business and that CompUSA is in league with them while a more reputable website is folding.

hmmm, small(er) computer shops are nice when you are in a pinch but they can't beat the selection and/or price of online places.

I'm kinda surprised that a local small computer shop in my metro area hasn't gone under, they were around before the dot com boom and survived the bust.

Sorry to hear that if it is true, I also had good experiences with ClubIT.

Ever since Newegg opened a warehouse in NJ, I've bought less and less from them because of the taxes killing most of the deals, mainly from ClubIT and ZZF.

I can't say from where, but I can confirm they are on their way out. They filed chapter 7 bankruptcy today. All employees are laid off as of 5PM today.

+1 for a fan of ClubIT, got my whole last rig there along with many purchases before that...RIP ClubIT....RIP...

confirm this. As of today PC Club is out of business. Sad really, I used to worked there. Best dang job I ever had.

Oof, that sucks. The techs at the PC Club I went to, weird as they were, were pretty nice guys.

All items have been pulled from PC Club's and Club IT's sites, so I'd say it's safe to assume this is true :(.

Why just pull all of your items? Why not just change the page to be a page saying that "we are sorry but we are no longer in business. Thank you for your support through out the years" or something like that.

Well it seems to be true you can't call them because the phone keeps ringing and the mailbox is full. So apparently its done and its no bid deal since my rebate from them was only 5$ but still it's my money dangit!

Whoaaaaaaaa  :(

I just called my local pc club and they recieved the order at 2pm today to close their doors and not sell any more stock. They will be allowing current customers to pickup their systems from PC club but that is IT. No firesale sales and no discounts, all stock will be impounded and PC Club will cease to exist.
