DFI LP LT X48-T2RS Motherboard w/ an Intel E8400 and 2x2gb of G-Skill DDR2 1066 5-5-5-15

I hit 4.0ghz and the RAM is at 1069. If I push the ram a bit more, it won't boot, if i push the cpu a bit more, it won't boot. This boots and works great (2x Prime95 overnight, gets thru 3dmark, memtest86 is fine, etc). I'm happy with this, but I want more (who doesn't). I only built the machine 4 days ago, could i try again in a couple weeks and see if it's better? It's cooled now w/ a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, could water help me get more?

ahh....

well, these top out on air at 4000-4200 so you may have hit your CPU's limit. Try lowering your ram clock to say 1040'ish, and then try upping your CPU clock more.

I am assuming your saying that they are both overclocking together, so when your overclocking your CPU your memory oges over the 1066 threshhold? Well lower your memory clock, that way you have more room to play with your CPU.

Also, you may need to up the voltage on your CPU a bit more to get it stable over 4.0ghz. You didnt tell us what voltage you were running it at though.

wish i was home, could give voltage details. Voltage is being pushed a bit on NB, CPU, and RAM (RAM is at 2.1V, i know that...its waht the sticks are rated at). I'll see if I can dump my RAM to get a bit more...not sure it's worth it for 100mhz tho, wouldn't faster RAM be better?
