I hate blurred reflections, blurred refractions, ray tracing in general and GI! Grrrr. Things were easier back when the only ray tracing people were doing was the odd bit of ambient occlusion. Feh. Stupid long render times grumble grumble.Mmmm, blurry reflections *drool* /nerd
Oh boo-urns! You can't have realistic renders without those features so I love them. I don't like like long render times either, but that's why I have an overclocked quad-core CPU!..sure, the render times are still long depending on the scene, but they're 4 times less long!I hate blurred reflections, blurred refractions, ray tracing in general and GI! We've got a 300 gigahertz Intel quadcore-based farm, and the render times are still a significant problem...Oh boo-urns! You can't have realistic renders without those features so I love them. I'd love to see that. For static images you can use one plane with an image for a texture, sure, but if you want realistic reflections while the camera moves, you can't fake them. (environment/cube maps work fine in games, but only because hardware can't do more than that) Too many materials in real-life have suble reflections and refraction, plus real-life has light bouncing. You can fake all that for images, but that doesn't work in every situation. And sure you can have realistic renders without ray tracing everything.
I just wanted to exercise some of the stuff cs3 can do. I was not planning anything to special. For the images, I wanted to see if the images changed to different textures and colors. The 8ball however I made using 3ds max and went to photoshop and lighten it up. The first image I wanted to see what it looked like if it was on a wall. Like I said, I wasn't aiming for spectacular. If you want to hate, then feel free to hate it. Doesn't really matter.
Edit: The last sentence sounds harsh which was not my intention so don't think I don't value your opinion. I in fact highly respect your opinion.

....
"stuff CS3 can do" is not filters... at all.
No one in high end design work or digital art really uses filters. There are a few (guassian blur, displace). But really, I can't stand it when: a) people take someone elses stuff, throw some filters on it and say its their own work, b) assume that filters are the main part of Photoshop.
Ahh don't worry about it. I love the fact you gave your opinion about the stuff I did and I understand what you're saying.Wow, I totally didn't see the post date, wasn't sure how fast this forum moved.
