Hey everyone,

I have a nice little password management tool that I use. I have lately been traveling a lot. Sometimes I remote desktop in sometimes I use hotel computers, whatever is available.

Do any of you use a password management tool such as http://www.passpack.com/info/home/

I would like your thoughts on security and usability etc.

I cannot keep rDesktoping in to keep passwords.

Thanks a bunch!

I use KeePass and have it on a network drive I can connect to when I need to.

I use KeePass too, except I sync a copy from my main computer to a flash drive for use elsewhere.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I think I will just get Keepass and try and configure it on a keychain flash drive. Open Source rules! I looked at this a while back and forgot about it. Thanks again. Of course online would be nicest but that is just too risky!

I am going to try and install keepass on my usb drive for Linux and Windows and share the same database. (If I remember correctly)

Ok, here is what I am going to do for anyone else who has to many passwords!

I am going to install KeyPassX on a sturdy little flash drive on a key chain.

This is the cross platform version. So it will work on your OS X, Ubuntu, or XP. I still have to figure out how to do it but I am sure I can figure it out. I will update once I figure it out.

I used to use one of those flash drive things but found it to be SO slow. However I may look back into this when traveling abroad as you can't be too sure about keystroke loggers. Presently, however, I'm just using different computers around campus and it takes too long to use a usb drive with the autoplay and all.

I use an encrypted excel file. Simply too many sites to remember.

Plugging in a USB drive takes too long? If so, you might want to just start memorizing all the passwords.

He might be referring to the time it takes for the computer to always have to recognize the device, as he's on a campus. For me, the computers are ghosted every night. It's quicker to open up a web browser to get to my KeePass file than it is to plug in my flash drive and wait for it.

Not a huge difference, but still.

Hey guys,

I installed the portable version of KeePass in my dropbox. It works perfectly! I made shortcuts to the executable and placed them on each computers desktop. Just make sure you don't open them at the same time.

If you want a invite to dropbox do a search for "dropbox invites" and request one.
