750GB samsung $108+ship

We've got a thread about the same drive albeit a different vendor and price point, look there for reviews. I love mine thus far.

If you read thru reviews on newegg (event discounting the nutty-sounding revews) it sounds kind of unreliable, which could explain it's low price. What are you guys hearing?

zzf has better s/h rates 11.17 on ewiz 6.60 on zzf...for 2 drives

anyways i'd think they're trying to sell out of this current revision of the drive in time for the next one

holy shit, how come 750 gigs dropped so steep in price!? I got my WD cavier for $149.99 OEM and I thought I got a steal :( should have waited for this since I'm not even using my WD yet

Has anybody tried to RAID these yet? If so, what are your thoughts?

yes I have :)

First off, same system RAID0 74GB Raptors 16mb

Secondly these Samsung 750GB 32mb F1's in RAID0

Ive got one of these, and i must say... this thing is DAMN fast. I might actually consider buying another one rather to replace my old dead Seagate.

Just bought two to replace two (perfectly working) 400 gig Sammy's in HTPC; going to take them out of my HTPC and setup a server again with them and buy another three next month (going RAID 5). :)

I have four of these and really like them. They are USB2.0/eSATA (my preferred method of connection).

They're low profile, stackable, stay cool to the touch, and look quite nice. Haven't had any problems supporting large capacity HDDs (currently running 2x1TB, 1x750GB and 1x500GB).

Sweet just ordered the hdd and the enclosure you posted, will replace my old 150gb external.
Thanks :D

I got one of these from Newegg awhile back for my new build and I like it so far. Little loud on the seek but I have sensitive ears. The speed is great, seems to run cool too if the sensor is right. I may have to pick up another one of these eventually.

I have 3, love them. Only downside is they refuse to work with my Highpoint RocketRaid 2220 raid card. The only conclusion I can come to, is they don't like the chipset in the controller.

Anyone have issues with these on 3ware or lsi cards? I have about 4 of them, all 8 porters except 1 sas 4 port card (lsi)

Wow I can't believe 750gb is this cheap!!

These are low profile just like the current 250gb ST3250410AS seagates?

Don't think so, those drives are LP because they're a single platter while these are something like three. IIRC that is.

I was wondering why someone said low profile and why it looks thin in the pic. It probably uses 3x 250gb platters then... is 250gb the biggest platter size there is or are we up to 320gb? I'm wondering if 320gb platters exist since the coming of the 640mb western digitals (unless they're 4x 160gb)... just curious.

Haha, yea we're up to 320... Seagate has a single-platter 320GB drive (7200.11) and WD has a 320GB single-platter, but it has the same model number (different revision) as the 2 x 160

The 640 WD is 2 x 320 platters... considered the fastest 7200rpm SATA drive out...

Just ordered one off the Egg. 129.99 shipped. It will be here tomorrow + newegg return policy. yeah thats worth another 10 dollars.

wow this is freaking crazy though...

I'd rather go for space over speed. I'm sure your normal user won't notice it.. 'Bout to pick up a couple myself.
