its in german so heres a translation (sort of) the pics say a 1000 words.

So today I have been a Phenom 9850 Black Edition, and wanted to get a little more Benchen who brings in benches and games.

I think that is also some interest

At the beginning I was very sceptical what the performance is concerned by this AMD system, but I must say it has prepared me very well and stable as it is running, I have not even needed to make new Vista, Board + CP purely drivers to install and the wars and has everything immediately gefunzt
 
no offence kyle but the link has several different games, the only one repeated is crysis (although diferent res). and the only clock for clock was between Q6600 vs phenom 9700.in your review.

Plus this link has B3 vs Yorky C1 clock for clock
 
The only real difference between the B3 and the old phenoms is that it clocks well. If it hits 200 bucks or less I might consider a 9850 since 3ghz seems to be an easy target, 3.3 or higher a possibility.

I may be wrong but I take it that Phenom can be decieving at any given clock. You can max out the stuff like the NB etc... while having the core clock at a more moderate speed and it can seem really fast. I dont own one but thats the impression I get from watching other people clock them. Not saying that is what they did either, just adding a note.
Anyone know if that is right?
 
When will people realise that B2 and B3 has identical performance? Its only when you turn on the TLB patch on B2 chips that performance goes downhill, but since it doesn't affect desktop usage it makes no sense to turn it on for most people.

As for the link, that's some pretty questionable gaming testing. How does a screenshot with a FRAPS number prove anything? Theres nothing demanding going on in those screenshots either, its just idle scenery, and LMAO at the screenshot of the boss in STALKER, how does that represent STALKER performance?! :rolleyes: Besides, its not even a true clock for clock comparison with the Q9450 at 2671MHz and the Phenom at 2707MHz. Does the dude even understand the need for statistical accuracy?

With all due respect to the guy, he's rather hopeless when it comes to benchmarking. I think I'll rather trust the findings from professional review sites such as Extremetech which actually uses proper testing methodology and shows the Phenom 9850BE struggling to keep up with a Q9300 in most tasks. If a Phenom can't beat a castrated Yorkfield 6MB, how will it keep up with a true 12MB L2 Yorkfield?!

no they are not "identical" by its very nature its impossible. Its impossible for two chips of the same stepping to be "identical".

and if you dont belive me you should read up on Quantum mechanics.

true the differences are very small, but there will be measurable differences between steppings.

B2 and B3, are, clock for clock, 'identical' to within the margin of error in benchmarking programs.

Way to go overboard.
The chips are clocked to run at certain speeds and therefore 2 CPUs of the same stepping will definitely give identical "performance" and even different steppings can give identical "performance".
Note the word "performance" as the original poster said, he made no mention of quantum level differences.
Stay on topic rather than trying to big yourself up :rolleyes:

Waffles.

Cherry picking overclocked benchmarks obviously negates all the benchmarking done elsewhere. B2 performance = B3 performance, except for the new 9850 bin that has a slightly faster IMC/NB (2GHz vs 1.8GHz). But many of the original B2 samples AMD sent out "accidently" had the 2GHz NB enabled.

Some people believe our inability to observe something without changing it doesnt imply randomness, and that particles that act in a seemingly unpredictable way are influenced by forces we aren't able to observe in their entirety.
