When i set game to 1920x1080 fills my hanns-g 28 inch no black bars on top and bottom, change to 1920x1200 i get black bars. Also what is the option for multisampling do?? its strange cause on some resolutions i get turn that option on like at 1680x1050 but at 1920x1200 it is not there to turn on. Also i cant seem to force AA?? using xp any one know on vista if AA is availible or if im missing somethign here?

Maybe the devs believed the hype about "AA isn't needed at 1920x1200 or higher".
Attempting to override app setting in Nvidia Control Panel also doesn't work for Vista 64/174.74 betas.

I'm running SLI'd 8800GTXs and no option to adjust multi-sample at 1920x1200.

I do get the black bars on my Dell 2407WFP. We can hope a patch is released to fix this small problem along with the option of AA @ 1920x1200.

any one know how i can get a logitech rumble pad 2 to work with the game??

EDIT: NM i juss had to reset the game once i plugged it in

My guess would be that the game doesn't think you have enough video memory for AA at 1920x1200. But that is entirely a guess, mind you.

I am limited to no AA at anything higher than 1680x1050 with my 8000GTX. I am currently playing at 2560x1600.

Hopefully a patch will fix this...

Other than that, the game runs great.

My FX-60 @ 2.83 has both cores being used at around 80-85% total with crowd at max.

how is everyones screen when running the game @ 1920x1200 u getting black bars on top and bottom?

Yes, reports are 4:3 screens have huge black bars top and bottom (half the screen) even though set to 1280 x 1024. This is covered on quite a few of the forums.

The game has been ported from the consoles in 16:9. Most widescreens run 16:10 so you will get black bars top and bottom if you run it at 1920 x 1200. Nothing you can do about it apart from set a non-native resolution and expect interpolation and stretching.

Ubisoft can go forth and multiply as far as I'm concerned, they ain't getting a penny from me.

AA does become a bit of a pinch at them resolutions, 2560x1600 luckily doesn't require so much AA and some other lower resolutions which is good because even 2xAA can kill the frame rate.

Seems like a bit of a daft limitation though, has anyone had any luck setting the Nvidia control panel to force AA at these resolutions?

picky picky:rolleyes:

and the problem is what, that there are a couple of black bars on the top and bottom?? so what?
how can something so trivial and unimportant be such a big deal? so you refuse to play the game because of a couple of black bars? how ridiculous.
be glad they came out with the game at all for the PC when they werent originally going to.
i commend them for doing the game at all, they got my $50 for a cool ass game, black bars and all.

man, some of you are so spoiled rotten its unbelievable:rolleyes:

How is native support for PC resolutions something to "spoil" us when it's a PC game?
Because it was an artistic decision.
The game was written in 16X9 (or whatever widescreen ratio) because of the extremely visual nature of the game. If you cropped it down to 4X3, you would lose the gradeur/awe factor of some of the views. I mean, I find myself sitting on the top of some of the spires in Damascus, just watching little AI characters, and then trying to dive-bomb them.

You would lose something in 4X3...

I agree who cares about the black bars. Running at 1900x1200 resolution it has kind of a cinamatic look even though it's not 16:10..nothing to boycott over lol.

The game seems to force 16:9, even if it has to compress what's on the screen.

I had this problem with the leaked beta version, I don't know about the retail version.

Same here. I think it looks phenomenal myself. I'm not seeing a stretching issue or anything like that here.

I bought this game through steam... why wont a profile show up in my nvidia control panel? I dont want to create one because then it wont be set to what nvidia recommends. Anyone know how to do this?

Does this game not have 5.1 sound support? I don't see any toggle in audio options and I only get sound from front 3 speakers.

Are you one of those people who complain about those pesky black bars when DVDs first hit the market?

Nope, but I was devasted when vinyl was replaced by CDs ;) it would have been nice to play it full screen that's all. I downloaded the broken Reloaded version to try it out and the black borders are large but after a while you don't really notice it.

I'm glad I tried the game - I don't like it. The games origin on the consoles is evident and the controls are cumbersome even with a Rumblepad. The graphics look odd as Spair Flair pointed out elsewhere. What's up with the story? Memory banks - what a load of bollocks!

I loved Ubisoft Montreal's Prince of Persia trilogy but this is hugely disappointing.

This still happens in the retail version. What I did as a workaround is this:

My displays native rez is 1680x1050.
-I added a custom resolution of 1680x945 (16:9 resolution with 1680 as the horizonal value)
-Set "Use NVIDIA scaling with fixed-aspect ratio" in the nVidia control panel under "Change Flat Panel Scaling"

You will still have the back bars, but your image is getting correctly scaled by the video card, not smooshed by the game. No more jaggies :)

The aspect ratio thing reminds me of the Bioshock PC issue with widescreen being a chopped off version of 4:3.

I'm sure its possible for people to live with the black bars, but why not 16:10 ratio support, since that is standard on widescreen PC monitors?

PS this game sucks.

Fair enough. Sometimes the obviousness of a console port really nags at my enjoyability of a PC game. Thankfully some have such enjoyable gameplay that you don't even care about the fact that it was ported over (GTA comes to mind).

Not adding these options degrades an already not so great game.

when playing now the game stutters specially when running or on the horse yet my fps are stable. any have this problem

Yeah, I noticed the same thing, but only when in the "Kingdom". Think it's driver related (174.74). I just installed 174.84 betas, i'll check and see if the issue is still there today.

Isn't 174.74 the latest beta? It is on the Nvidia site anyway...

its posts and attitudes like this that is the reason ppl say pc gaming is dying...

every game that comes out, this game sucks this game sucks:rolleyes:and watch the developers say screw it and stop making games for pc's period.

i never seen so many whiney bitches in all my life. keep bitching about stupid shit and spoiling it for the rest of us that DO like the games.

soo what driver do i ned to install to make it run smooth in the kingdom? IM running xp also.

This game DOES suck. And its not because its a PC game or a port of a console game. It just sucks.

I mean come on, the evil corporation (well, only an old guy and a chick) kidnap a guy who's a bartender who happens to be the descendant of a long line of Assassins, so they use a supercomputer to unlock his genetic memory and make him relive the past in hopes of finding the ultimate treasure? And the corporation happens to be the descendants of the Templars.

Far fetched much?

thanks for the spoiller warning

The 174.82 drivers didn't fix this issue for me. I didn't bother looking anymore after that. After you visit all 3 cities, you don't have a need to go back to the Kingdom (Well, briefly one more time...)

BTW....I enjoyed the game, despite all of the gameplay/story/environment flaws. Enough to play through it again later even.

Aren't most games far fetched?
