Ubisoft added Vegas 1 to Steam, normally $20 but $18 for a limited time. I used to own the game on PC, but it was quite a buggy mess, so I'm not sure if I'd really want to recommend it to anyone. But if you don't have any other way to play it, it's a decent game.

Vegas 2 is up for preorder / preload, I'd probably wait it until it was out to read some reviews to make sure Ubi didn't butcher it.

I just finished Rainbow Six Vegas for PC and it ran just fine. The things to avoid is running HDR and anti-aliasing at the same time, and do not run high quality shadows. The game runs with these settings, but it slows down like crazy in some areas. When I cranked up the res on my rig with medium shadows, no AA, and everything else high it ran nicely (excellent framerates). Definitely better looking than the console versions and highly recommended for first person shooter fans.

I cant resist, all hail steam! The titles they are adding is making me love the steam platform more and more every day I buy a new game.

EU release is pushed back to later than the US release, sick of this bullshit, not going to put up with it anymore. I'm not going to sit here and twiddle my thumbs while the US players get to play something that I've already got on my machine, but just can't be unlocked because of some political bullshit. Same thing happened with Bioshock and it made me so mad I wish I hadn't bought it, not making that mistake again I can tell you!

Guess I'll have to download it via other means, sigh.

You can run HDR and AA at the same time with an 8800GT.

I didn't like vegas 1 it felt 'consolish' for some reason. Why are you passing on Vegas 2?

Has Ubisoft made a statement saying R6V2 would be more PC friendly or anything like that?

It looks essentially Vegas 1 with more guns. I really wasn't very happy with Vegas 1, so there is no real reason for me to pay for it a second time.

Then again the series was DOA after Lockdown anyway. The series needs to go back to varied missions in completely different locales. It also needs to bring back team selection and planning.

now that Tom Clancy sold his name to the corporate world, we might get a host of crap games, or maybe some good ones. They have a flight sim coming out, which seems not his style. oh well. I enjoyed vegas one, sniper rifles were made almost useless except for one or two levels, i enjoyed the enemy chat when you used the spycam, but seems some of the audio was bad, they would fire a shot and then say do you need ammo? but still felt fun to me. Looked nice to.

vegas 2 was considerably better than the first I thought. Looks a fair amount better too, and we get aa.
