GTAIV - Which console to buy for?

I have both PS3 and Xbox360. I am going to pre-order GTAIV soon but not sure which console to buy it for. I am assuming there will be more people buying it for Xbox360 and thus more people playing it over Xbox Live. So, I am leaning more towards Xbox unless someone can persuade me otherwise?

If you have both X360 and PS3... you probably be better off picking it up for the X360... because of that exclusive content. I will be picking it up for my PS3 though :)
 
I have both as well and will be picking it up for the 360, only way as of right now to get the extra content down the road.
 
If you aint in a rush to buy it then i would wait a day or two, to get responses back from the internet as to which one is better or has smoother framerates. Im pretty sure somebody will do a comparison in the first few hours of release :)
 
All good things come to those who wait, I'll pick it up on the PC once all the console users have play tested the buggy, low frame rate version ;)

360 - LIVE is the better online service compared to w/e free crap PS3 has.

Good stuff! I have been a GTA player since the days when it was ONLY on PC. Sad how they have alienated their core audience, over the years by making them wait forever to get their due.

Anyways, enough about that. I have a PS3 and a 360, and multiple gaming PC's. I will probably buy it for 360, for the content, then play it and sell it, and buy it again for PC, whenever that's finally released.
 
I'm waiting for some reviews. What if the PS3 version is actually superior? No amount of downloadable content (especially for a 100+ hour game) matters if that version of the game isn't as good.
The PSN isn't as good as XBL, but for a game like this it'll be more than sufficient. It's certainly not like a fighting game or shooter where matchmaking is a bigger deal.
If you have both systems, right now I'd lean toward the 360, but don't buy any of them without a review of the differences. You might be sorry if you don't.
 
PS3 GTA4 have server support?

Or will it be P2P like X360???????????
 
I preordered the PS3 version (have both consoles) due mainly to the fact that my PS3 is less likely to die on me and leave me GTA-less ('tis true...), but also because I like the DualShock3 better. I'm willing to pass up on the episodic content...I'm not paying out for 'episodes'.

Yeah, that's one thing I was thinking. Right now we know so little about all of this, I'm just holding off. We might find out the PS3 version is broken, the 360 version is choppy, the episodes suck, the multiplayer can be exploited, etc.
I'm just going to read some reviews that morning and get the better version on my lunch break.
 
I was going to wait it out and buy it for PC, but after trying to fly planes and helis with pc controls in SA, screw that. gonna pick it up for my 360.

For that matter, when will the PC version even come out? I don't care if it does end up being the better version. Do I feel like waiting 9 months to a year for it? No way.
 
hahah my girlfriend preordered it for me for my B-day...

cant wait for the 29th...

its the Xbox version..i just have a feeling that will be better
 
I have both and I will be getting the PS3 version.

Better hardware, and I have little desire to pay extra money for downloadable content. I'm sure the base game will give me all the GTAIV I need (or want).

It's ok. it's hard to resist being presumptious because of bias. ;)

Seeing how recent ports of 360/ps3 games have been, I wouldn't have too much faith in the PC port of gta4. The PC might be the buggy low framerate version for all you know.
 
Is there an announced date for the PC version of the game?

Shame on Rockstar for screwing their initial benefactors :(
 
i dont think they are strewing you ....GTA 1 and 2 are the only two that have come out with PC versions first...GTA3,Vice, and SA and 4 PC came/will come out first for console

there biggest fan base is from GTA 3 and beyond...also carrying over

I am a PC gammer...havn't played my Xbox in a long time...but play TF2 and/or COD4 almost everyday

Although I still think all GTA is best on console...and gta4 for xbox is my most anticipated release of the year...for me

I am holding off until I see some reviews. If one version is clearly superior, then I will go with that one. It is really a toss-up for me because I prefer the 360 controller, but my PS3 is SO much quieter than the Vacuum360. I am not really concerned with downloadable content as I have never actually done all the missions (including side missions) in any GTA.
 
Preordered it for ps3 as i played the last gtas on ps2 and hated them on xbox.
I say it should be on the system where they all originated and that was the sony systems. And cuz my ps3 doesnt sound like a jet or get disk read errors like the little loud white box next to me.
 
they have to release it on the PC, San Andreas was released on PC 7 months 12 days after it was released on the PS2, Vice City: 6 months 15 days, GTA3: 6 months 28 days

i say well know something around November/December, maybe well even have the game by then
 
Wait for reviews. Despite what we've been told, there maybe noticeable performance differences.
 
oh yeah, I won't be wasting money on pre-ordering it either, just gonna skip down to walmart and get it.
 
Lets not forget, the reason GTAIV was delayed was due to problems porting it to PS3. I don't know if that's any indication of how it will perform or not.
 
360 has downloadable content, but will it really be worth it? I don't think so. I would get the PS3 version because the graphics scheme looks better to me. I will be getting the PS3 version because the only system I have is a PS3, but if I had a 360, I would still get it PS3.

The graphics scheme? Meaning...?

360 for me, already pre-ordered and pre-paid for with old games I traded into Gamestop. Although if I had a PS3 as well, I'd definitely wait a day to see which was better.

And then PC, I'll always get it on the PC.

Why the hell is Rockstar making the PC version first anyways, the PC is what made GTA so popular, fuck your fan base over why don't you.

What?

GTA 3 is what made GTA popular, and that was on the PS2 before anything. Nobody really cared about GTA 1 and 2, it's 3 that made the series popular and it debuted on PS2 first and foremost. GTA 3 didn't even come to PC until two years after the PS2 version!

Without GTA 3 and the PS2, nobody would even know who Rockstar is, and they definitely wouldn't be who they were today.

I mean, cmon, I support PC gaming a ton and hate when companies sell out, but Rockstar was never a PC developer first and foremost, hell, even GTA 1 and 2 came to consoles (Playstation, Dreamcast, hell, even Gameboy Color). Ever since GTA 3 years ago they've been consoles first, PC versions waaaay later. I know it infuriates PC only gamers, but Rockstar's fanbase is console fans, and it's been that way for years now.
 
I have both, but I'm definitely going for the 360 version.
