Hey guys first off what do you think I can get for these parts.
msi k8ngm2-fid
amdx2 3000 (not 939)
2gb patriot
logitech 5.1
geforce 7600gs

Sorry for the lack of description it's been a while. Any ballpark figures would help.

Secondly, I want to build a new budget system for War Hammer Online.
Here's what I'm thinking.
- reusing soundblaster xtreme music
- 650i or 680i recommendations? around $70
- what ram?
- Intel E2160 Allendale 1.8GHz 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor 70$
- SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD753LJ 750GB SATA (32MB Buffer) Hard Drive 115$
- NEC REFURB NEC MULTISYNC 20WMGX2 20 1680X1050 WSXGA+ 1600:1 6MS 194$

No knowledge on OC but skimmed through the sticky on hardforums. Seems easy and I only want to OC moderately. Nothing hardcore for me.

The harddrive and monitor are on sale so if you have any experience with them please let me know so I can still take up the offer.

I plan to install Vista and use the computer for only War Hammer and internet/word processing. Depending on the games requirements I may reuse my 7600gs as well.

Lastly, is anyone knowledge worthy of controlling 2 computers with one kb/mouse?
I use to play DAOC in a clan with a guy who had 7 computers tied to one control so he would cast 1 spell 7x instantly and really do some damage out there.

I might make 2 of these computers or reuse my old one for a healer/buffer bot to follow me around.

Thanks

I want to spend 500+monitor so about 700$.

Last time I shelled out too much and didnt know what I was buying. I mean it did what I wanted it to, but I could have had it for cheaper or got more for the money.

Mobo - P35 mobo with Intel P35 chipset such as the Abit IP35E or Gigabyte GA-P35DS3L $90 - $95
$65 for the ABIT after $30 MIR
2 x 2 gig DDR2 800 A-Data for $70 before $20 MIR
Video Card - XFX Geforce 8800GS for $130 before $30 MIR or PNY Geforce 9600GT for $149

CPU is fine as it can be overclocked easily. Are you using that 7600GS card in this build or upgrading to a newer video card? Also, what PSU will you be using on this setup? Optical drive you will reuse also?

We can't provide price checks for your old parts. (If you didn't skim through the sticky you would have known that....)

The CPU you chose is fine, but you'll need a third party CPU cooler in order to properly overclock it.

You don't need SLI for the monitor you're considering buying. However, you should consider either the 9600GT or the 8800GT (the 8800GT being the better of the two cards) to play games on it.

Do you also need a case, power supply, and/or operating system for this build? And where are you planning to buy everything at?

I'm ordering the monitor now. I want to jump on the deal.

Since I need 2 computers to BOT I'll just strip what I need off my old computer.

I will probably use the essentials for my main rig and when the release of WH comes out I'll get a new optical and video card. Release is scheduled for Fall 08 so hopefully the cards will drop in price big time then.

I have no clue what PSU I'll need and I have a huge Zalman fan with adjustable speeds on it I can use for a moderate OC.

I will need a case for my old rig when the release comes out since I will reuse my old one. It's an Antec that lays horizontal.

OS I want to run Vista but not sure which version.

Newegg/Tiger/Zipzoom.. where ever is cheapest but mostly Newegg.

So let me get this right... you need a new computer, complete with power supply and operating system (since you're reusing your case), capable of playing Warhammer Online (nearly anything can play WoW), all for under $500?

Could you specify which specific parts (including brand and model names/numbers) you're reusing?

$700.. you need a good $100 more and you'll be set...

$70 - E2160
$90 - Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
$36 - Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro (it was $23.. but you might be better set investing in a Nirvana NV120, in case you upgrade your CPU and want to OC that)
$36 - G.Skill 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800mhz
$150 - EVGA 9600GT
$70 - Corsair VX450 Power Supply (from Buy.com with $10MIR, $10 Google Checkout)
$100 - Vista Home Premium
$75 - WD 320GB Hard Drive (WD3200AAKS)
$0 - Reuse DVD Drive?
$195 - The monitor you want
$50 - For the case you want
--------------------------
$872

I'd advise you to get a cheaper monitor, or upgrade your budget.. cause $500 for gaming is not a great deal at all... If you would've purchased last week, you would've gotten better deals.. IP35-E was $60 after rebates, Freezer 7 Pro was $23...

But Yeah, I'm sure I could get this cheaper, maybe use an 8800GS instead? But I have to go to class now.. so sorry I couldn't link to everything.

OH just saw youw ould be reusing video card.. and you bought the monitor.. so you have a $500 budget.. then... it's still $527...

Building with an OS is horrible... so I don't know. You will need to increase your budget if you want a decent gaming machine.

You should wait for the MMORPG to be released before you buy the parts for a new system for numerous reasons.

Yeah I don't know what I was thinking. I was going to build the essentials right now and then upgrade the video card when the game releases but that will accomplish nothing.

By the time the game releases in Fall prices will go further down.

However, I am glad I bought this monitor and will be replacing a cheap 19" I have at home.

I will make a new thread in the future. I appreciate the help. :)
