Where is the clipboard / clipbook viewer? And don't tell me to copy blank spaces... What, I should keep a blank text file on my desktop every time I want to clear the cache? What if I want to actually see what's in the cache?

I swear, Microsoft removes the most useful tools from XP and call it Vista.

Oh great now the start menu stopped working. When I click on it it just closes and does nothing at all. The Vista style works, but the Classic start menu is somehow glitched... This isn't the first time it's happened either.

I don’t think they removed any serious stuff

there is some free small tools that can do the job, you can also use the Win XP clipbrd.exe (in system32) with Vista
wait I’ll upload it

Wow... People actually help out other here? Thanks for the file and the links.

The start menu thing isn't a serious problem. Logging out / in solves it. I actually made a thread before now regarding those missing features... Looks like I'm not the only one who misses them.

I'm using Windows Aero with classic start menu. I don't know why the glitch occurs, I just know how to fix the symptom. Maybe they'll fix the problem in SP 2 eh? LOL

Anyway, before in XP I used to be able to just click on Run and type in clipbrd and run the program... Now I can't... It's %systemroot%\syswow64\clipbrd... Great improvement there Microsoft... Totally upped the efficiency 100%. Look at all the "wow"...

Add %systemroot%\syswow64 to the PATH environment variable. Then, start->run->type in "clipbrd".

Are you sure you have the right to distribute that file? I'm almost certain that was a direct violation on copyright.

I recall there being a sidebar gadget that would show a clipboard history.. maybe that would do the trick?

@Cyrilix:

Ah thanks. That's a good trick. Also I discovered an entry leading to a spyware!!!

Nah just kidding it's just quicktime... LOL

@Max Power:

Well unless it's an extra widget that you get from the net, it's not included with my 64bit premium. The closest side bar item is resource / CPU monitor, which doesn't show any clipboard items.

Open the add gadgets menu and then click the "get more gadgets online" button at the bottom right. ;)
There's a gazillion of them.

I'm not too fond of Windows Messenger, when MSN Messenger works so much better.

Windows Messenger has been replaced by Live Messenger, which is "Windows Live Messenger" full name...

Why clear the cache? For many reasons. One of which is to clear the space for other uses.

Also, I don't want other people to know what I have stored away in the cache. I'm paranoid like that. I mean, imagine someone else borrowing the computer to browse the web and press Ctrl-V in the address and BAM, some crazy kinky porn site shows up... Not very good.

(especially if that someone else turn out to be my girlfriend...)

Always clear your cache...

Clear space for other uses? That's what happens whenever you copy something new...it is cleared out for whatever is in use next.

As for not wanting others to "see" what you had saved, that's ummm, paranoid maybe? I don't know, I'm not coming up with a good word for it. If other people are using your computer, create separate user accounts and log out when you are done with the computer.

Honestly, I can't see an issue with Vista having these *ahem* feature removed....and I certainly wouldn't call it one of the "most useful" features. In the time it took you to rant about this, you could have fashioned yourself a very nice tin foil hat.
