Just saw them yesterday and forgot to post. Fry's has a shit ton of them and the price is $349 for the 512mb BFG's. That's the only brand they have, and no, they are not wearing the "OC" badge.

Are they worth getting? Is there something out that's better for less? Is there something better coming down the pipe from ATI or Nvidia?

This is what's coming down the pipe at NV. :) Just grab an 8800GTS and call it a day.

So I take it there is nothing special about it? Haven't really seen any reviews of it yet.

Early reports indicates it OCs a ton better than an 8800 GTS 512. The reasoning behind it is pretty obvious though, the PCB is different and has a way beefier power supply section. More capacitors, two 6-pin power connectors instead of just one, longer PCB to accomodate the extra juice, etc.

Other than that, they are almost identical cards.

that doesnt make sense..... releasing on the 1st of april, yet they're available at Frys now?

//confused

Well, if they're available to be purchased then it sounds like the whole "release on April Fools Day" thing is bullshit. Nothing confusing about that.

I just went to one Fry's, and called another. Some of the Fry's have them, but they arent supposed to go on the shelves until April 1st.

The one I went to was in Plano, TX. The had about 8 on the shelf, with the BFG 9800GX2's sitting right beside them. Apparently, BFG is rushing these things to retail.

Man, I can't stand push backs on stuff!!!

It's a rip off to those wanting to step-up!

I wish Intel would hurry up and make a video card, they're like the one reliable source that are pretty accurate w/ products!

Intel FTW!

You're joking right? They've been delaying the 45nm Core 2s until the last possible second.

Hm, but look how fast they moved from the 65nm to 45nm. What has AMD done to compete?

ATI cards have been on the move compared to nVidia!

Dude, he wasn't even talking about ATI or Intel. Quit trying to start Intel Vs. AMD fanboy war.

Anyways looking foward to some reviews about the 9800gtx so i won't have to go SLI with my 8800gt. That 9600gt just killed my little dream I had

Been waiting for the 9's line to come... some of the benchmarks are looking pretty good.. but.. I have a feeling that I will go for an 8xxx series, now that those are dropping in price. They are looking pretty good for the buck now.

I have never had so many choices in building a new system. Things are moving faster even than they used to, especially in the graphics market o_O.

Yeah the selection of graphics card solution is incredible..... 2x 9600, 1x 9800gx2, 3870x2, 9800gtx, 8800gt's ... I mean its always been spend 700 for the best or spend 350 for something you can deal with.... The market race is moving so fast and the prices are incredible!

If Frys has them on the shelf for $349.99, then we might see them online for around the $300ish range.

Has anyone ever had to deal with BFG rma's? Just wondering if they are worth going with over evga now with the extra 10day step up program. Also, anyone know if bfg allows you to change coolers/overclock without voiding the warranty?

Called all four Fry's in my metroplex (Dallas, Plano,Irving, and Arlington) and asked if they had them for sale. If they did, they do not anymore. I had one representative (Dallas location) to check in the back and he said they had three of them. I asked him if he could verify the price of it and he said his computer wouldn't allow him to sale it until a "undisclosed date". So it looks like the April 1st date is holding true!

I'm confused. Manufactures make these cards and have them rot in the back of stores, waiting till a certain date? nvidia didn't even release the quad SLI drivers till the 25th. Which was what. 2 weeks after release? I guess my only question is .... why? why not release the product that is already made.

supply/demand.

its simple. they want to build up a good stock of them first.
they dont just ship it from the factory straight to your house (that would be smart actually) but yes, they stockpile.
many people buy things on the first day. so they need to make sure that all the ogod location have them in stock or else people will piss and moan.

i saw the 5th of april but who knows? prob drivers being made is the holdup

Because the card is almost as fast as the 9800GX2 and most likely they were afraid noone would buy the GX2 for 600 if they could have something almost as fast for 300 or much faster (GTX SLi) for the same money on an sli board.

I would be pissed if I used my stepup on the 9800GX2 and a week later Nvidia releases a single GPU card that is almost as fast and is half the price.

you mean early speculation?

Excellent RMA, called them up, prompt phone response, gave me RMA via e-mail and package label.... printed.... put order through usps for pickup and package label... mailed out next day.... received the following day... mailed back the day after.... received the day after, brand new card.....

4 days from my doorstep back to my doorstep is damn fast...

great RMA service

I'll definitely be in for 1. I'll probably wait a week though as price normally goes down a bit right after launch...

I agree w/ you man. Same service from them myself. Very prompt!

The only nVidia I will buy is BFG, based on that customer serivce!

I've had great customer service from Evga, but 10 days is 10 days. The bfg cards are usually a bit cheaper than the evga cards too. I just had no experience with their customer service.

I've had both and EVGA was much easier to deal with than BFG, just my personal experience though.

This is madness.

I bought a a 8800GTS 512mb a few months ago and it's doing just fine.

Not upgrading :(

I run SLI GTS512. The only reason i'm tempted is for TRI SLI support. I'll have to see how well tri scales compared to just 2 gts512s.
