Received a dead stick of Team Xtreem PC2-8000 in new 2x1GB set shipped direct from Team through TankGuys. Rma time. Any other experiences with this ram:confused:

It happens with sticks, from time to time. Though I'd say we don't run into that any more than we run into problems with other brands. Have you contacted Team about this yet? If not, shoot me a PM and I can help you get that sorted out.

Thanks for the reply. I did e-mail TankGuys about my rma with Team. I contacted Team and they were very prompt and sent me an rma form and an apology. I will be sending in the set to Team tomorrow. Hopefully, the replacement set will be ok.
No blame whatsoever to TankGuys, you are only filling the order from Team Group which ships the ram. But I wonder what is it with these Micron D9xxx series sticks, there are so many reports of doa and failed ram, especially for Crucial Ballistix! I had hoped that Team would be a good brand. Fortunately, I am not using one of the motherboards that are suspected to be killing this ram by overvolting it.
I have a 120mm fan mounted over the memory slots so there will be good airflow in the Stacker case.
I look forward to getting a working set of this ram, and hope that it will be reliable.
Will keep you posted:cool:

I think part of the issue is that I'd be 90%+ of the people on the forums are buying D9XXX based RAM these days. So I'd suspect it's just statistics you're seeing - with so many people buying it, there's a tendency for lots of people to have issues as well. So far, at least, I haven't seen any indications that failure rates on these chips are really any higher than others.

*Update* Received my replacement set from Team. Both sticks are working fine. I'm keeping the voltage nice and low (2.0v) and have a 120mm Coolermaster mounted above them. I was able to lower the timings to 4-4-4-11 at my previous fsb of 445x9. I have now set them back to 5-5-5-15. At a fsb of 467x9. Nice 200MHz gain;)
Thanks, TankGuys:cool:

I've got 2 sets of that same ram from Tank Guys (PC5400 and PC8000). I bought it strictly for benching and so far I couldn't be happier. I haven't even tested the PC8000 yet, but the PC5400 will do 1100mhz at 4-4-4-12 timings at 2.2v and I've benched Super Pi with it at 1200mhz 4-4-4-12 with 2.53v..... this stuff rocks! I haven't even started on Cas5 testing, or the PC8000 set.

Incredible timings on that PC5400 set. That's how D9GMH ram should perform. Team has a great product, and TankGuys has helped to make it more affordable for us:cool:
