nigerian businessman, thats one nice setup. i especially like your ubuntu setup and crts... and im even an lcd fan :)

Sorry for the o.t. post here, but....
I would love to run Ubuntu 7.04 or 7.10 on my desktop... I haven't tried on my new laptop yet.
I can't seem to get Ubuntu to play nice with my setup... The mouse pointer always freezes randomly. I have tried everything I can think of... the noapic thingy, etc. I have heard rumors that maybe it's my nVidia card!? Everything works flawless except the mouse cursor freezing... Sabayon and PCLinuxOS have also done this... there's nothing wrong with the mouse (it's a new G9) and everything works fine in Vista... but damnit, I'd rather have Ubuntu.
Again, I apologize for being off topic, if there's a Linux thread or something around here I'd like to dive in. Maybe I can get Ubuntu or one of the distros running great on my rig

Post a thread here and I'm sure someone can help... since it's happening with different distros, I'd have to assume it's a compatibility issue with your mouse...

Laptop is running Arch Linux 90% of the time. The monitor on the left is hooked up to my XP x64 PC, the one on the right is hooked up to the Ubuntu server. I use synergy to share the mouse and keyboard w/ all three systems.

I am a big fan of Ubuntu, however. I've been running 8.04 since alpha 3 on the server with no problems.

Thanks :) I had an LCD but it ended up broken (long story). Got a deal on the CRT's, $40 for both. Hard to turn that down. I'm just waiting for the desk to collapse completely, if you look at the first pic you can see that its bowed in the middle.

Been on a shopping spree....

Its a Tsunami Box series 'BOX G11'
And why 3 mice??
2 are for my main rig, I use it a hell of a lot as I work online etc, so when one runs out, I pop it on charge and grab the other one;)
The bluetooth MX 1000 is for that white rig.

Nice taste in speakers my friend, I considered those before I finally made the decision in my sig for speakers.

Thanks, I just got into the audio scene and decided to get these swans. They look absolutely beautiful and sound just as good as they look. I never knew what I was missing out on. Compared to my old logitech cheap 5.1 speakers, these rock.

Me too. For years onboard sound and cheap consumer computer speakers were enough, til I recognized how hollow and tinny it all sounded, I upgraded to a dedicated card and some monitor speakers.

Nice stuff ronin, what unit is that driving your audio?

At the moment an Eltax AVR-250 dolby digital 5.1 reciever.
I also have a Sony STR DG500 6.1 reciever but thats part of my HT.
will be replacing the Eltax with something better later in the year.

I've also jumped on the bandwagon, the difference between 'good' speakers and ones like yours or my Heybrooks is a vast difference!!
It really opens your ears up to a whole new world of high quality sound reproduction.;)

@ Shaman, I know!!
But Hey, I like my work/play/lifespace just the way it is!
Everyone to their own and all that:D

24" + 20" with display arms + NSK3480 and the near-field monitors with custom speaker stands == maximum free table space.

I really should get a camera of my own and learn to shoot some properly lit pictures though. I hate photos like this.

update!

finally got the TV mounted and got the LG bluray/HD drive put in
the TV is hooked up the the mac mini and the pc, and the pc is hooked up to all three

What speakers are those?
They look nice.
They are Behringer MS40 active digital monitors (they have analog and optical/coaxial digital inputs). Pretty decent I guess and great for their price, certainly, though I'm no audio buff. Active speakers saved me yet more space since I no longer need to keep an amp anywhere. I do need to find or build some kind of a minimalistic volume controller/mixer and stick it to the underside of the table to really finish this setup, but other than that this only needs just a bit more cable management.

I've noticed a lot of people on here like to keep weapons by their desks, you all can't seriously live in that shady of a neighborhood, do you?

yeah its pathetic how those stupid ethug dudes show a pic with their guns in it and get you dumb fucks whining about it for pages on end when this is a "SHOW YOUR FUCKING SETUP THREAD, NOT WHINE ABOUT WHAT YOUR SEEING THREAD"

No, they just do it to look 'hard'. Makes them look bloody stupid to me.

I keep a shitload of stuff on my desk 'cause I don't have anywhere else to put it. There's always 3 or 4 knives on my desk, just because that's the only place I can keep them without losing them.

I don't think I'd keep a gun on my desk though, there's enough OTHER people who are around my desk to make that a bit unsafe. :p

It's actually "Post your workstation 2008 ! " thread, not "Post your computer but the main centerpiece is actually my firearm I must show my e-thug e-peen instead of concealing the weapon, I show it off because I'm just a lib that wouldn't know what to do with it anyway if someone was threatening my life.. they'd probably take it away from me and shoot me with it." thread.

I mean seriously, that last one isn't even a picture of the workstation at all. Its just a closeup of the gun. We don't care how small your penis is.

lol

My two computers. This is an old pic, and I don't have a camera to take pictures of how they are set up right now, maybe in a bit.

ps. oh yea, check out the totally fake gun in there, i used paint cause I dont have photoshop on my new computer. lol @ e-thuggin.

oh man that was great!!
I used to keep my airsoft mp5 mounted on the way above my system. But it was just to keep it out of the way and it looked nice up there. Conversation "piece"
