New LG W2600HP 26" S-IPS

So anybody know whether the H-PS model that they sell at BB is an IPS yet? Weird how its not up on the US site, Im gonna try contacting LG.

Bestbuy list H-PF. This is the same as the LG Canada site that lists the H-PF model as TN.

While that may not be definitive, all signs point to TN panel.

Here is the same monitor, just different brand: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/hazro_hz26w.htm
In the review they state that it's using a LG.Philips S-IPS panel. The good news it has an average of just 16ms input lag! :D
Also, the Hazro monitor has component inputs.

Not the same monitor, the hazro is using an identical panel to the NEC 2690, and was released in oct/nov.

The LG is using a new 26" S-IPS panel(not listed on the LG Philips website yet), we may even see NEC update the 2690.

I'm not sure how new this monitor is, but is there any reviews from european sites or others on this yet? Why is there so little interest in this compared to the planar say?

The LG was just announced last week at CEBIT. AFAIK, no one has actually put their hands on one yet.

Man, I'm really hoping this monitor will be better than the Samsung 245bw that I returned due to a extremely crappy TN panel.

If not i will throw in the towel and stay on this shitty 17" until OLED screens come out.

I was at Best Buy today, and they had this new LG panel. It's listed as a 25.5" panel in store, model number W2600H-PF. It's DEFINITELY a TN (i.e. unviewable from the sides or underneath). Sorry guys, no cheap IPS panel.

Guys this thread is for the W2600HP, not the W2600H-P(F,B..etc). They are 2 completely different models with different panels, although stupidly they look exactly the same (to fool people no less). It would probably be better to start a different thread on the W2600H-P(F,B etc) so people stop getting confused.

If the W2600HP appears in the states it will be $1000+ for sure, it is a latest generation 26" IPS panel so expect a premium. The current NEC is $1200.

Damn..I can't wait to read reviews about this one.
Does anyone plan to buy this screen as soon as it's up for sale here in Europe (26th of March)?

I will wait until reviews to which there will be many if the L246 is anything to go by.

I'm looking for some good store in Poland cuz people here got totaly crazy - they are selling this one for 2000$ (!!!), so maby you know stores that offer this one in decent prices and can send it to Poland?

I could get this monitor as they seem to have it in stock here in Britain. For 530 sterlings it doesn't seem too bad unless it has major flaws. Sadly review sites seem to take long to review new models. Currently I got a Hanns-G 27.5" which hasn't totattly satisfied me and I would be game to sell it for a better 26" monitor.

Interesting, so it is already available at retailers? I would love to see someone on this site do a review.

26th retailers will have them in stock. The 30" LG is already available, slightly more than the dell. note the 26" has 3 year warranty. I just need input lag details before jumping.

The major question is: can this screen be set to properly display sRGB or not.
After having tried the Dell 2408 I will not buy another Wide Gamut screen without a working, calibratable sRGB-mode. I hate cartoon colors.

Well....nope, here in the UK it has disappeared from a few sites and the ones that still list it still now state they are waiting for a new delivery date, also the price has jumped up...from about £550.00 to £650-£700 quid.
not the sorta news we wanted.

Exactly, I was ready to order this if the reviews where ok, but at £700 i might as well just go with a Nec.

The price is probably just being inflated initialiy because of low volume (q9450 situation..) but im still waiting for a review from anywhere.. does this thing actualy exist in retail stores?

I’m looking forward to the release of the IPS version of this screen. Hopefully the price will settle down and be more attainable with decent/trusted reviews. Is the LG IPS panel rumoured to be the same one as the NEC2490?

Its a next generation 26" S-IPS so its an updated panel version of the one used in the NEC 2690.
The NEC 2490 is 24", there is no word on an updated 24" S-IPS panel.

Thanks for clearing that up kleox64. Its sounds as though this new LG IPS screen has great potential, although after having a quick look it doesn't seem to appear on LG's UK website yet - even though some websites show 31/03/08 as being available to purchase.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

LG said availability would be march/april, this was way back in october.

Just picked one up at Best Buy today. Had a 10% off cupon and I've been wanting to upgrade for a long time so I finally did it.

Went from an LG 203 model 20" widescreen and what a difference. Straight away everything really comes alive. No dead or stuck pixels thankfully. I gotta say, 26" is a lotta desktop space but I'm very glad I got this instead of the 24" as it's much easier to read everything on the monitor. Did a quick calibrate at http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ and everything looks pretty good. Can see a teeny tiny bit of banding/dithering going on which I can prob take care of with a little more effort but I wanted to start playing games hehe :D Also, the black depth-of-field is really really good, dark images have fantastic gradient of darkness.

Backlight bleeding? Yeah theres some coming through but honestly it's not that bad.

Dont really like the hypersensitive touch buttons for the menu system, but at $599 list price for 26" I can't really complain.

Will play with it a bit more and post more info later. Feel free to ask any questions, etc...

Hello,

you own the IPS-model? If you have 24" experience, you could compare the pixel pitch with a 26"? What do you objectively prefer?

How is the performance in games? Text is sharp? Colours vivid? Any noiseness to listen in more than 20inches? How many centimeters or inches is your distance to the display?

Hmm, one or two pics would be graceful.

Thanks a lot from Germany. Sincerely waiting for Infos about that TFT. ;)
