i'm posting this here because i think SFF systems shouldn't be just mATX.

the lian li a05 is a relatively small case, but i'm wondering if there are any cases that are smaller and can accommodate a normal atx motherboard. if that's not possible, are there any mods that can be done to matx cases to fit atx motherboards?

There was some mATX case that was modded to accommode full ATX size mobos..maybe someone can link to it here.

If you think about it, A05/A06 is pretty much as small as you can get with decent airflow. If you're willing to sacrifice some airflow, it's probably possible to fit an ATX-board in a Silverstone SG03 with some modding. Or just satisfy with a Lian-Li V600, although it has some inefficient use of space caused by the rounded edges - making it the same size as A05!

could you give me a link or something about modding the SG03?

With its volume at only 12L, the Silverstone LC02 is probably the smallest case that can hold an ATX motherboard, but there are a lot of compromises:

As a reference, the SG03 is 22.5L and the A05 is 39.2L

from what i just saw, yes, i guess there are lots of compromises.

I have one it fits an ATX board with very little compromise... I don't think it can get any smaller.

Sorry to drag up an old thread... just for future people to know, the X-Qpack was not a terribly difficult mod as a first-timer to make it take full-sized mATX boards. I did it with just a nibbler and an electric drill, though a hacksaw would have made things much simpler. A file was used of course, as well, on the edges to smooth them out.

Yes, I know, old.

I believe some of the mid tower MATX that have the PSU on the lower part should also work with small modding.

Apevia and Cooler Master have models that may work... thinking on that.

That 3rsystem case is very nice but nowhere to be found and under JustPC there is nothing either.
