So who's HAPPY with Vista SP1?!

Ditto, installed without issue. Slight improvement when transferring files to/from USB stick. Everything else seems the same.

Cheers!

I have Vista enterprise 64bit and SP1 isn't even a download option.

Not a personal expereince but I mod at EA's forums for BF and it seems people are having some issues with these games after SP1. Few people reporting they needed to completely reinstall every driver AFTER installing SP1 in order to do a lot of things they were able to do before.

SP1 works great for me. No problems. Of course, I never had a problem with Vista, anyway.

I actually have noticed faster net speeds, more fps in games, and better sound quality believe it or not.

Only thing that wasn't fixed is the whole device cannot start code 10 thing for and external storage device.

I'm using Home Premium x64.

Installed SP1 last night and saw a huge improvement in speed especially when I log in

Funny thing is I downloaded SP1 for 32bit on my laptop last night and went to install it and it says that I already had it. Go figure.

No wonder I connected with my Belkin so fast to Firefox. I'm gonna use that copy on my Gateway and see what happens.

Well installed it last night and so far SP1 knocked out my network drivers and had to reinstall those. Also it destroyed Outlook 07 and locks up when it loads so im in the process of reinstalling that. Not sure if anything else got messed up by it. Really havnt noticed speed improvements as well.

my system seems a lot snappier with SP1 in place as well. My games load a hell of a lot quicker as do the majority of my applications. I'd say good job Microsoft.

Not even showing up for my Dell work PC with 965 chipset...

hrm. -.-

No issues on Vista Ult x64. File transfers are much faster between drives now and everything seems "snappier."

I've installed x64 SP1 today aswell. I haven't tried everything but booting is much slower from power on to loading up everything. It still displays the desktop in a very short time yet it still takes a lot of time for the appz to load. The slowest is the sidebar. My startup programs are these: Razer Krait app, ASUS AI Gear 3, Sidebar (3 RSS, 2 AccuWeather.com gadget), Volomouse (small app for changing volume with mouse, nothing fancy), Logitech Profiler for my Rumblepad 2 (always plugged in), Realtek HD audio manager, Daemon Tools.
Config: ASUS P5K Pro, C2D E4500, 2x2GB Kingmax DDRII 800MHz CL5, Galaxy OC 8600GTS 512MB, Audigy 2 ZS, Seagate ST380011A, ST3160811AS, LG 4522B Combo, Chieftec 450W.
Until then Vista worked fine, but this slow loading at startup is annoying a bit. I'm gonna try Unreal and such with fraps too see if my fps changed or not. I'm thinking about unplugging my rumblepad or removing sidebar from startup.
Vista is much better compared to XP x64 in my experience and for a new computer it's nearly perfect.

No issues here with the x64 version on Vista Ultimate. I suppose I was a bit underwhelmed at how little visibly changed. But then again for most people that's probably a good thing :p

Had it installed a while back and mostly good.

Zoomplayer in EVR crashes but MPC in EVR doesn't so I chalk that up to an application flaw.

Vista x64 SP1 installed here and all BF games (BF2 and 2142) work great after installing the SP. See sig for rig specs.

SP1 64 made TF2 (the only game I'm really playing right now) run a lot smoother. Probably installed some of the hotfixes that I missed or something. But I think the vista drivers for my sound card are incompatible. Otherwise, file copies are noticeably improved as others mentioned. Its a toss up right now...

loaded vista 64 sp1 and so far no problems. office 2007 loads a bit faster now. i still can't get everest to load at startup.

Did you make a task for it? That works for me with programs that windows wont load at startup.

I installed it back when MS released it accidentally to a few people via Windows update and haven't had any trouble.

I put it on my parents' computer, but was not happy to find that there is an incompatibility between Vista and Remote Administrator 3.1. Now I can't take control of their computer to help them with problems until the software is updated. Obviously not MS's fault, but it's worth noting that SP1 may introduce some incompatibilities.

Installed it last night. No real problems so far. I knew it was a huge update when it installed in 3 parts/steps. Took approx. 35 minutes to complete. I'll have to live with it for the next week to make sure there isn't any adverse issues, but so far its good.

I loaded SP1 last night.

The loading went pretty smooth but I think that there are still some issues, and not everything made the cut.

So far I am NOT seeing the fixes I was looking forward to.

I got a brand new Flash Survivor that Vista does not see data on. Xp sees this device fine. Sometimes Vista tells me it needs a driver and other times it completely ignores it. I am starting to become angry about this! Nothing I have read online has helped me to sort this out either.

After SP1:

1) Still does not see data on Flash Survivor USB memory stick. Device manager sees it, but no data appears. I have formatted this drive to FAT 32 (using xp) and still no luck. The disk management sees the drive but gives an error if I try to assign it a new letter or format it. Error says unexpected.. Please refresh... please restart... blah blah and nothing will change this.

2) Defragmenter has some what been improved, as now you can at least select which drive you want to Defrag. There is still no status or estimated completion time or amount of fragments, etc. I may have to go with 3rd party software on this one.

Open office software seems to ... crash now. Conspiracy? Admittedly, this only happened once and I have not tried it since. Hard rebooted and it did some kind of disk check upon successful reboot (2nd try).

If anyone knows how to get vista to see data on USB flash drives please speak up.

I have been loading SP1 on my two desktops with Home Premium. NP so far. But my portable PC has Business version on it and Update isn't finding the SP1 update... Is this common ?

When trying to install 32bit SP1, I am getting "An internal error occurred while installing the service pack" outlined here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366

Running file checker as outlined does show some corrupted files, but the log file is too huge to make any sense of it.

I do have 2 x 2gb sticks on it. Do you think taking one of them out temporarily will help?

My issue seems to be odd. I tried the SP1 Beta and cannot upgrade to the full pack now. Trying to figure out when I did it to try a restore point. I'd like to not hose the system but it is a microsoft product.

I've had the service pack since it was an RC and had no problems. SP1 for Vista has worked great no issues for me, in fact it fixed my scanner issue on my Kodak 5300. I also want to say that I've been irritated for a long time at all the negative reviews from so called "experts" trashing Vista. I've been using it since RC1 and yes it had problems even on initial release, file transfer issues comes to mind and thats really it. The other issues were the fault of the hardware vendors not Microsoft. Even with the few issues it has it still beats XP... and I like XP a lot and even don't mind 2000 now ME thats a different story.

I updated my Vista Home Premium 64-bit (desktop PC) and Vista Busines 32-bit (notebook) without any problems. And the notebook even had one of those problematic drivers, but i updated to newer driver few days ago.

Working great here, installed with no issues. Vista Business 64-bit

ive had this problem a few times
go to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\
find the usbstor(insert random numbers here) folder and copy the inf and pnf files to the C:\Windows\inf folder
do the same for the volume(again random numbers) folder and it should work
just make sure you get the ones out of the folder that is the latest

Why are you telling Vista to defrag? There no need to. Superfetch and the new drive tech is ALWAYS defraging and optimizing file locations. There's no need to schedule a defrag.

You have to uninstall the RC1 from the programs list before the real one will install.

As for me, I installed SP1 on my X64 Ultimate desktop and my home premium x32 laptop. No issues so far. The laptop seems to boot faster by a bit. Not huge difference. The desktop seems a little snappier, though that might be some kind of placebo effect.
COD4 is getting ~10 fps more.

Tonight i will throw it on my HTPC (in my sig). See what happens. So far so good!

those running beta's or rc's need to uninstall them first before installing the Final SP1.

Very smooth install on the machines here with no problems at all. Systems all feel slightly more repsonsive than the RC versions. Battery life on the notebooks is noticably better than before. One little bonus is that the Microsoft (Pharos) USB GPS now has a built in driver that actually works now rather than nothing installable or found pre-SP1. Works fine with Google Earth Pro now rather than purely MS Streets.

Compared to other SP1 updates from previous OS's, this one has been a joy rather than a burden.

Installed it at work last week. I had been waiting for it but then realized that I had access to it via the OEM site.
Installed with no problems at all.
I use it for work, not gaming, but I've noticed no problems at all. I haven't noticed any improvements either (other than file copies seem a little faster). Not surprising really considering that most of the changes are back-end stuff.

The fact that IE crashes at all should be an issue. I don't think I've ever had Firefox crash in my life. I can't remember IE crashing in XP for a long time either.

At least its not me, I too can't remember IE in XP crashing much at all nor Firefox crashing in either Vista or XP. IE7 64-bit crashes so much I dont even use the thing anymore. Just stick to Firefox.

I'm happy with it. It was clean install though, put in a new HD, installed vista, then SP1, and everything is running great.

Got vista 64 sp1 installed on my pc yesterday. Haven't really noticed anything different but it didn't cause any additional problems so I'm happy.

Messed up my 'upgrade' installation (used my Ultimate Edition Upgrade disc to clean install, then install again over itself - I'm sure many of you know what work-around I'm referring to)...

My copy was no longer able to be validated with my 'upgrade' version key.....

Lamesauce.

Hopefully this isn't the case with the regular release of SP1. In the mean time, I uninstalled the SP and have been fine ever since.

SP1 totally messed up my system, well my sound card at least. My microphone no longer worked, and the only thing the sound card outputted was a loud, distorted noise. I ended up uninstalling it and everything's back to normal.

Ok thanks, I will try this. Do you know why this is happening in the first place?

Why did they include it at all then?

Maybe it is just because I can (old habbit). I dunno, it seems to slightly improve loading times on some games.
