I'd like to compile a list of what the negatives are of using the Wordpress Blog/Content Management System.

So for all of you more advanced web developers out there that have had experience with Wordpress, please let loose your rants! :)

Please try to keep each post on topic, I know this could lead into some possible arguments.

I always hear people say that WP's template system, and its 'Loop' are really easy to get a hang of, and manipulate. However I've always found it anything BUT easy.

It's definitely something a novice can't pick up and completely redo their site. Doing small tweaks to it is fairly easy, but anything beyond tweaks is not.

doesn't handle high volume traffic very well out of the box. Although there are plug-ins and other settings that can help with high volume traffic issues, it's not readily apparent to a new user.

yah, pretty much every wordpress site that ive ever seen on digg.com immediately goes down with some nasty database errors

- the overuse of php and way too many database calls (cause for high traffic issues)
- style, menu systems and interface are just too convoluted for what it does
- basic functions like automatic updates are non-existent or handled very poorly

with that said, everything is as customizable as your skill level and the community is unmatched.
