I just got installed the game and I got to play the single player and it gives me this error that says I inserted the wrong disc. How the hell can this happen when there is only one disk? I swapped out DVD drives and still get the same message. I also don't understand how it could be wrong when I installed the whole game off of it. Please help me out if you know what could cause this. I have the Limited Edition DVD edition if that matters at all.

i have the same problem:(

EDIT: I just fixed it. I turned off all the emulation drives on my machine. I had a virtual drive via Power ISO and I disabled it. It worked right after i did this.

Thank you so much dude. I had the exact same program and never thought about Power ISO. I disabled my other physical drive and a bunch or stuff last night. I forgot I had the program since I only used it once and never knew it made a virtual drive.

it is likely part of their security, game wont run with virtual drives on, since that is a way to get around some security on games.

HAHA...i got the same problem and only took a second to fix it

Bringing this back up to the top...

I just bought this game last week and have the same problem. I'm not running any emulation software or anything like it. Google has not really helped a lot--I've tried most of the things suggested there. Has anyone here got any more information on this problem? Multiplayer works just fine, consistent with what others have said. I've patched it up to current version, but no dice.

My specs: Asus A8N-SLI deluxe, Samsung SH-S203N DVD sata drive, current nvidia mobo drivers for my mobo.

Thanks for any help... Lawdog

Burning software such as Alcohol 120% creates virtual drives too. You may want to check for other software that *might* emulate drives but don't do it as a main task.

Appreciate the reply.

The only burning software I have on the machine is the Nero suite that came with the drive, Nero Essentials 7. I'd read that programs of that type might cause these issues, but I don't have any of them. Stumped.

I browsed around the official Infinity Ward forums and the solution suggested there is to get a no-DVD fix. I am a little reluctant to go this route, but nothing else has worked to this point. Last thing I want to do is get Punkbuster mad at me, so to speak, but darned if nothing else works so that I can play the game I bought. Grrr.

The multiplayer does work and is excellent FWIW.

I only get a DVD prompt when I change from SP to MP.
Since I got into MP it has never even looked for the DVD again.
I guess I will have to find the DVD if I do some more Single player stuff.

Are you getting prompted every time you start the game?

I only get the DVD prompt error when I try to start the singleplayer or when I try to switch from multiplayer to SP. This is consistent with what I've read on other forums. Since the MP apparently does not do a DVD check, this is the reason folks like me with this problem can play MP just fine, but no singleplayer.

Sad that you have to turn to the hacking community to get a legitimately purchased game to work because of copy "protection" :(

Roger that, woldo. Very frustrating. Not EA level frustrating mind you, but still a pain.
