Crysis Official Discussion.

Where did you do that? Even when I snipe with a silenced gun the AI would start to band together to and start searching for me.

If I sniped far enough away (50+ yards ~ maybe?) the AI would be alerted, if I missed, but not looking for me specifically. Usually if I miss, the alert bar goes up, hit the second shot, and it goes away because only that soldier became aware.

- Also, I want to know if anyone thinks my CPU is bottlenecking in crysis? I was playing around with the settings seeing what resolution I could play with max settings and to see how high of a framerate I could get in each res/setting combo. When I got down to 800x600 (lowest res) with all settings at LOW, indoors (this is all according to FRAPS) my avg fps is 50, and outdoors, I'm lucky if it stays above 30? I get the same framerate at 1680x1050 with all settings on low (the settings i normally play on). I have a 7950gt at 630/715 and an x2 5000+ @ 3.2ghz. I didn't think an x2 at these speeds wouldn't be able to handle crysis at 800x600? What fps do you C2D guys get at 800x600 with low settings (if anyone minds checking for me)?

Wow you got your 5000+ up to 3.2ghz! How? I can't get over 2.8 with tons of bsod's! (Stock cooler though). Back on topic, no matter what I put the res on I get basically the same resolution with my setup. I am very interested in what you Q6600 guys are getting in performance because I am thinking of making the jump.

I found that if the situation was just right sniping wont alert everyone. By just right i mean the target has to be far away from the rest with nobody looking at him and if there is a tower within 100miles  with a sniper there just is no sniping unless you kill him first.

Even then more times than not everyone ends up looking for you anyway so it definitely needs some work but the AI seems to be capable of doing better since it at least works some of the time. I think this may be fixed in a patch.

We are putting a lot of stock in this new patch do you think it will deliver?

Probably not any time soon but i expect by 2009 these issues will be fixed :D it is EA after all.

Well I am new to the PC gaming scene but from my console days, EA sucked with all updates and they either never came or came way after the life or fun of the game had passed.

Mine hit a wall at 2.8 as well, then I watercooled it

I don't know, I think I am going to jump to intel in a few months. Water cooling a proc to only get to 3.2 ghz doesn't seem that economical. Don't get me wrong that is a sick OC but I would rather get a q6600 that I have seen plenty of people get to 3.0ghz on air.

I ran into an annoying bug on the VTOL level where it would start losing altitude in a big hurry in two spots. Sometimes I'd slide on the ground for awhile and then crash when I hit a tree. Staying close to the other aircraft let me get past the spot.

I wonder how much graphics/sound settings affect bugs in the game. I saw a few physics deaths (mostly enemy) and a couple of odd floaty enemies like this:

Thats not a bug you flew to close to the tornado/vortex whatever it is.

Im slow. Im stuck in the zeroG dealing with aliens.... so I can just punch them out?

Where is the way out? I keep going in circles.

Anyway, my 5600+ is @ 3.5Ghz on air (120Ultra Extreme)so I hope that isn't holding me back, I dont feel like changing to something else. Still using the X1900, the 8800GT is sitting on the bench, I gotta redo the goop before installing it... just lazy. Still plays ok on the X1900 actually.

The multiplayer stuff isn't as good as Farcry. Farcry was a riot to play, though America's Army is the best game play Ive ever seen.... real humans are the best AI :p

Maybe they will improve it, not very many people are playing multiplayer.

I finally figured that out after reading more of the thread. It looked like smoke coming up off the ground so no big deal, I flew through it. Repeatedly. And started to think, "the bug happens exactly where those two lines of smoke are".

 <- at self

That's why the pilots tell you it's tornado valley...;)

Blech. Finally gave the game a try after enjoying the demo, and I'm very unimpressed.

Upgraded to a 5000+ X2 Black Edition cpu, 4gb of ram, and 8800GT, and the game runs worse than I thought it would and is already getting repetitive and boring all of 2 hours in. :( I guess I played the demo too many times.

Yes but now whatever cpu I upgrade to later on, all I have to do is get a new waterblock (40-50$?) and bam its watercooled.

Sweet, and very true! Great choice man. I am scared to venture that far. I will soon enough maybe in a year or so.

Yeah, FarCry multiplayer, IMO, was far better. Crysis is just too spammy for online play, you can't use the nanosuit to it's true extent because basically, cloak mode is all powerful and overused, the submachine gun
is spammed to no end, lag prediction seems shoddy at best, the gameplay is disorganized and doesn't really reward teamwork. Not to mention all the kiddies still in the servers. And if I wanted to have to earn credits and buy weapons, I would still be playing CS.

However, I feel Crysis is an EXCELLENT single player game....so many ways to use your equipment to complete a mission.

For online multiplayer....CoD4 is more my style, by a large margin.

Well I only got to spend one day playing online and I enjoyed it. Also it is my first foray into pc online FPS's so take my comments with a grain of salt.

OT - a couple years ago i sold my '93 CBR600. first bike i ever owned or attempted to ride. There seemed to be a power spike around 8000rpm with the stock sprockets. GREAT fun.

I miss that bike a lot...

anyone try the directx 10 hacks in XP. Does it look the same as vista directx 10 ?

some say it does, not having seen either in person just screenies i reall cant say. but all that patch really does is turn on all the fancy effects that are suposed to be DX10 only.

Its not DX10 i can say that for sure. I tried it out on my machine for the hell of it and it worked with my x1950 pro. Looked great but slideshow would be an understatement.

I tried this. I had a dual boot between Vx64 and XPx86 and did the XP tweak. It is defintely NOT as good as the full DX10 show in Vx64. The color pallet is the first indicator. It just looks so much better in DX10 VERY HIGH mode.

It was a nice tweak in XP for those who don't have Vista, but don't think for a minute you're getting the full effect. DX10 on VERY HIGH with 4x AA is just absolutely beautiful.

I have played through and and beat this game twice now.
Second time was on Delta (really didn't seem that much harder), but I did cloak attack more often come to think of it.
Very enjoyable game and looks AWESOME.

What the hell is wrong with Ice level? It knocked down my PC performance to 2-5 fps from 35+. Completely ridiculous.

Can anyone tell me why i'm not seeing a major gain switching from a 640mb 8800 to a 512mb 8800?

The loss of RAM maybe? Can't say for sure. I know my performance issues in the game are CPU bound, but I actually found myself happy with 30+ fps, down to 20 at the intense explosion parts, but, still mostly playable as I finished the game tonight.

can someone confirm this for me...I set the game to 'Hard' difficulty level and now I can no longer use the guns on any vehicle (jeep, boat)...is this supposed to be this way on Hard difficulty?...I tried it on 'Delta' setting and the same thing...on 'Normal' and 'Easy' the vehicle weapons work fine for me

On hard you have to switch to the position of the vehicle with the weapon. You can no longer drive and shoot at the same time.

Yep, that's how it should work. You can still use the weapons which are mounted on vehicles, but you just have to switch to the correct seat/position first.

EDIT: Beaten to it!

yes its normal if you still want to be able to shoot while driving at the same time open up "diff_hard.cfg" in "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Game\config" and change

v_driverControlledMountedGuns = 0
to
v_driverControlledMountedGuns = 1

cool...thanks

they shoulda made that option only appear when playing under 'Delta' setting...not for both 'Hard' and 'Delta'

Or WANT to run Vista. I've have both XP x64 and Vista Ultimate x64, and while it's close, I have to give the (slight) nod to Vista and DX10, simply because everything looks "cleaner." The foliage and trees in the distance have less "noise" and and the HDR lighting has somewhat better contrast. Still, the difference isn't huge. DX9 isn't going away anytime soon.
