Just wanted to thank you guys -- reading this thread, I have uninstalled Acrobat Reader, installed FoxIt, and saved myself 180Mb of harddisk space.

Good work, keep the 3L337 PROGZ coming

Golden Progz? Does that mean only things stolen from warez sites and used by 13 year olds can be listed?

Damn, a lot of you have way too much crap....anyways my favorite program is WinSockXP fix, it is a program that I almost always have to use to fix customers infested computers because their internet/network connections are usually borked/hijacked.

Golden programs you say?

-VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) media player
-Foxit Reader (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php) 2mb PDF viewer
-WinDirStat (http://windirstat.info/) get a view of my hd stuff
-AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/) nice antivirus
-Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/) best browser out there
-Trillian (http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/) IM program.
-Xilisoft (http://www.xilisoft.com/) nice video converter for any device, with any settings.
-RocketDock (http://rocketdock.com/) freeware launcher application
-Dev-Cpp (http://www.bloodshed.net/devcpp.html) C++ ide / compiler
-Gmail notifier (http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-helper/notifier_windows.html) speaks for itself
-Guitar Pro 5 (http://www.guitar-pro.com/en/index.php) for reading my tabs.
-Photoshop (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/index.html) editing pictures.

A few I haven't seen anyone else mention:
CPU-Z
Super Pi
ZoneAlarm
Xnews
GrabIt
Drivey

-uTorrent (Azureus-like features and interface without the Java bloatness)

-NOD32 + Spyware Blaster (IMO, the only programs you need really need for spyware prevention)

-NVTray (A MUST for nVidia users. Enables classic menus on the newer forcware drivers and enables additional features. Must for overclockers and tweakers)

-Launchy (A quick and simple text-based launcher this eliminates the need for a desktop/memory hogging launchbar)

-Acronis Disk Director 10 (superior & more reliable alternative to PartitionMagic)

-O&O Defrag (feature rich defragger)

-Tuneup Utilities 2008 (All-in-one tweak program for windows, kind of like TweakXP and CCleaner rolled up into one and more.)

-CoreAVC codec - (high performance playback of hidef AVC videos. A must if you have x264/mkv files)

-Alcohol 120% (similar to daemon tools but with the ability to burn images as well)

-nVidia Purevideo (best hardware based decoder for MPEG2/DVD available on the PC. Highly recommended for Geforce 6/7/8 series owners)

If you guys know of any better programs than the ones above, I would like to know about them. I am currently looking for alternatives to the programs below

- ACDsee (has the features i want, but too slow)
- irFanview (not enough features)
- newsbin (great performing newsreader, but interface could be better)
