Does anyone know if this TIM is silicone oxide based? I was reading a review of a the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 and it mentions that silicone oxide based thermal compounds can cause oxidation of the copper heatpipes upon contact (not good).

I've been using this stuff for years, but never heard this before.

I haven't assembled the system I just ordered parts for...I'd be using it on both the GPU and CPU HSF, both of which have a copper base or copper heatpipes. I ordered a tube of Shin Etsu X23-7783D, and by all accounts is an excellent TIM. I assume it's silicone oxide based, and this is the first time I've heard about that stuff oxidizing copper parts, which could affect thermal transfer efficiency.

I have used the same TIM on my water cooled Maximus FORMULA since November with no problems. I just got through replacing the old Q6600:rolleyes: with a a QX9650 today and an inspection of the base of the water block showed no signs of any problems.
