loosing intrest in gaming

I don't know about anyone else, but I feel like I only really play 2-3 games... the same games for the last 7+ years? I mean I get new games, I play them, but most feel like rehash, seem to get boring very quickly. But games like StarCraft and Counter-Strike have been on my computer since day 1, and I still play them most regularly.

I don't really play that many games, but there have certainly been some good ones lately. Call of Duty 4's multiplayer is awesome, Bioshock is very cool, I enjoyed Rainbow Six Vegas (not raven shield but still fun), Portal, TF2 and Episode 2 were all excellent, the Witcher seems like alot of fun, Crysis was certainly fun for a while, and I got C&C the first decade to get my old Red Alert groove on. PC gaming is definitely alive and well my friends. Even it falls by the wayside, it is still fun to have a wicked fast pc.... damn outlook is fast!:D

I'm 27 and I've completely lost interest in gaming, well only PC Games. As I got older I found I completely lost interest in what the whole PC gaming experience gives you. After working 8 hours on a computer, I don't want to go home and sit in front of a computer. But I can hardly wait to get home and turn on my 360 or Wii. I found that I cared less and less about awesome graphics or twitch gameplay. I just want to go home, sit in my living room in front of my big screen and play a game that actually has some decent content and Halo 3.

I've even gotten to the point where if a game comes out on both consoles and PCs, I get the console version; even for FPS games. Like they say, with age comes wisdom. :D BTW, I have no interest in MMO or RTS, the 2 game genres that can only really be played well on PCs.

Ugg, March is going to be another crazy month. There are 4+ games I want all coming out then. Its been an awesome 6 months for gaming, there have been too many good games. Its been a while since I have been so backlogged with games I still haven't gotten to playing.

yeppp, finally breaking my addiction these past few weeks.

OH GOOD CRAP. Took me forever to break my addiction to DOTA. So blasted fun. Took forever just to break my addiction to WC3 on Battle.net PERIOD. Free online play? So much blasted fun! Guess what other game finally broke my addiction to Warcraft III?

BF2142!! I know it's old, but I just started playing. I find myself eagerly anticipating the next rank advancement, unlock, and any awards i can get. I love improving my stats and improving my win/loss ratio. It's so much fun that my clan on WC3 disbanded (I was the chieftan! Tsk, tsk!)

Anyways. I like C&C 3. One of my friends said that Generals is the best, but I can't get it to run on my 64-bit Vista ultimate rig. Don't know if it's vista or 64-bit .... all my other games run fine.

There are quite a few good games out these days. Half life 2 was awesome. (never played 1 - shame on me - I just bought the orange box when it was on sale for $25 on black friday - absolute best buy ever!) Episode one was good, but short. Beat it in less than 4 hours. Episode two was incredible. 14 hours of solid entertainment, enjoyable graphics, and plenty of action & puzzles to solve. I eagerly await Episode 3...

I also eagerly await star craft II, as I was a huge addict to the 1st star craft. Blizzard just makes good games. They take their freakin time, but it shows. In the end you have a solid product. How many times has Diablo II been cited here? What about warcraft and starcraft? And WOW - HOLY COW! I know whole families where Mom, Dad, Sister, and Brother all play together at the same time!! They pay $15 per month per account (x4) and pay for the extra high speed internet connection. It's a whole family pastime for them, and I am meeting more and more people like that. Many couples that play. My 75 year old GRANDMA plays, and she has a level 60 or whatever!!!

There are enough games out there that if you look hard enough you'll find something you'll like. I refuse to play wow, just because I know I'll get addicted and end up wasting 15 bucks a month on it... probably worth it. Maybe someday I'll get my wife to play and we can start a clan with my grandma! :p

I still think the PC is the king of the FPS genre. HL2, anyone? Oh, the accuracy of a mouse, the realism provided by an nVidia 8800 DX10 graphics card, the beautiful anti-aliasing .... You miss out on so much with FPS's on consoles in my opinion. The graphics don't even compare to a PC with decent ram and a $220 graphics card - not even CLOSE!

I've found myself playing less and less games now a days, I can't help but take it seriously now, I think it's something thats naturally happened as I've grown in skill, I expect to win more.

Games like TF2 I find it very hard to have an enjoyable match because no matter how hard I try some attacks or defences are just impossible to beat without team mates who know what they're doing, it just makes me frustrated.

Yesterday I actually bought another month for WoW a game that I've only play a bit in the past, I got a mage to level 48 and decided to reroll as a Warlock, mainly becuase at the moment I want something more along the lines of adventure and storyline without the competative nature, there are very few games you can play a lot (100's of hours) which aren't highly competative, MMO's seem to fit the bill for me, I'm just waiting for Warhammer.

Coop games also work well but they get boring really fast with the linear nature of the maps, I think Left4Dead is another game I'm really excited for.

I may find a game that has good deathmatch, i tried UT3 but with the 1 hit kill weapons and long list of other problems that wasn't really very fun, at least in deathmatch the only person you can blame when it all goes wrong, is yourself.

Im still a gamer and have been since time began.. (Well.. Since the NES hit...)

I really miss some of the older Genres more than anything else..

A REALLY good new side-scroller would be great...

Show me a Nice Fresh new Space Combat sim and a Joystick.. Im in Hog Heaven..
(Freelancer was the last Hurah.. Now the Genre is pretty much dead)

When was the last PC "Fighting Game, a'la Street Fighter" out? Mortal Combat 1?

Do they even release sports titles on the PC anymore.. (Not really in to that Genre.. but hey..)

The Current Genre's are doing OK, but the gameplay and imagination factor is fairly low..

RTS's are alive and well.. But None have captured my imagination since StarCraft..

MMO's/RPGs.. Lots of those out, I prefer single player games though, KOTOR was the "the shit" for that.. I'm craving Mass Effect.. but that is months away for us PC Guys..

3rd Person is OK, Lost Planet was well done..

FPS's are a Dime a Dozen..

I'm 24 and have practically no responsabilties other than to turn up for work, it's f-ing great :)

Oh, how do I miss those single days... I had money and lots of free time. Rent was super cheap because I shared with roommates. Now I'm married and yeah, my wife hates the computer games, and she definitely wears the pants around the house most of the time. It especially sucks that my nice new quad core system is in our bedroom. She goes to bed at like 10:00p.m. and some of my BF2142 buddies don't start playing until then. She's nice sometimes and lets me play. Unfortunately I'm going to school and I have a full time job. We gotta feed our 2 yr. old now!

But it's all worth it to come home and have that little boy say "Daddy!" and be so excited just to see me, his dad. Having kids is a lot of work, and definitely cuts into the game time, naturally. But it is so worth it. I got no regrets. Our next house/apartment will have a 3rd bedroom for the computer though.... :p

I have NEVER enjoyed an online game as much as I enjoyed Quake 2 .... on dial up! To see people calling me a bot when I had 200 ping ... HAHAHA. I could play that game 8 hours a day. Best 1vs1 game ever.

Then I went to MOH:AA ... great game ... played that for years.

then BF2 .... Pretty good ... but didnt hold my interest enough to play for long periods of time.

Now .... there is nothing that intersts me... I have COD4, Orange box, NFS:pS, MOH:A .... all boring to me....

The worst part is I built my PC in hopes of MOH:A being a hit ... Now I feel the new PC is a waste since I dont game.

One of these threads shows up every month or 3. There is no recourse. If you lose interest, you lose interest. There's nothing you can do but be open to whatever captures your fancy next. Stages of life thing; diminishing returns; who knows what the answer is. I really miss some aspects of fragging online, however I can't force myself into something. It doesn't work.
This also applies to other parts of life, not just gaming.

i remember those days. i already hit my "lost gaming interest" point...

but now i just drink more, smoke more (not tobacco) and have relations with my girlfriend. :) dem special relations.

Read instead, when you get going you can get through a lot of material. I regularly go through a book or sometimes two in a week's time.

Well....while cod 4 on the 360 is a great game just like the PC version is, the graphical quality is quite lacking. If you have a good pc and can play cod 4 on higher settings at higher resolution and then you go and play it on the 360, you notice quite a difference. The game on the 360 is about equal to playing on all low settings on the pc at a resolution of 800x600 at best.
I would hardly say that PC gaming is dead. While some of the larger games like Halo 3 may have a huge fan base, there is still quite alot of PC gamers out there. Thousands of COD 2 and COD 4 PC servers. Thousands of CS:S, CS, UT2k4, UT3, BF2, BF2142, WoW, etc....
While you have alot of Halo 3 and GoW players on the consoles playing online, if you add up just a few PC games, the number of players is much greater.

That's a pretty big lie in regards to CoD4. I own a higher end computer and CoD4 on my pc @ 1680x1050 16xaf 4xaa only looks a tad better than CoD4 for 360 on 1080i/p. I'll defend pc gaming to my wits ends but there's no reason to make false claims like yours.

Just wait until StarCraft 2 comes out. I swear Blizzard makes the most addicting games....

Blizzard is the McDonalds of gaming.

I put the following games on my E8400 rig

FPS: 2142, Crysis, ETQW, Orange Box, UT3
RTS: CNC3, WiC, Sins, Supreme Comm.
MISC: Stalker

UT3 is underrated imo.

Actually.. You can bring yourself out of this Funk,

An OC'ed Quad Core Rig, SLI Setup and New 46" 1080p Monitor could do the trick..

Think of it like getting a new Bombshell Girlfriend with Big Knockers, Tiny Waist and a libido like a Porn Star.

I used to game a lot, then went to night shift. Now no time to play, need to sleep before kids get home from school.

Great analogy...i got burned out, thought it was all a waste since i was wanting to learn some PHP or VM diff. linux OS's; then i thought why not just buy an LCD, mount it on my wall, buy a Yamaha soundbar under that; buy a PS3 and wait for GTA... anyway, she pleases me.
...and cod4 is like drugs since i got the mp5 down... 74 - 10 can bring it all back. ;)

I think is that you may have less time because the last summer me and my friends were playing bf2 until 5am to 6am. But I seem to care less about games since I don't have the time to play them.

Hell yeah. I bought Hellgate London (don't buy it if you haven't) and on the forums nearly half of the people say they have never played Diablo 1 or 2. It makes me feel really old :(

never played Diablo 1 or 2... is that legal... i mean i'm fairly young (20) and i have still played diablo 1 and 2...

If you're bored with PC gaming, then give console gaming a try. 360, DS, and PSP have fantastic standalone libraries to keep you busy for a while. PS3 library has a few really great titles, and some fantastic ones coming out this year as well.

As for PC games...maybe broaden you tastes a bit. I suggest you take a look at Dreamfall...fantastic game with a fantastic story. It should keep you hooked for a good 15-20 hours.

im more into building high performace pcs, but for what.......no gaming?.....i duno whast wrong with me

Yea same here... My system is used for 95% internet surfing and misc officework needs....... Games just don't hold my attention anymore. Crysis was fun for all of a day and then it was over....

Let's see the STDs of the porn star would be....Ah yes! the occasional bugs, crashes, driver problems you'll see on the PC. But like the porn star, well worth it!

I agree to a certain extent. I still play a good amount of the newer games like CoD4 and Company of Heroes. But most games, I play for an hour or two and lose the will to play.

Where's the Master of Orion's, UT99's and the Xcom's of the PC gaming world? Just got Sins of a solar empire, maybe that'll keep my interest for once.

PC games, I sporadically play from time to time. But console games, I sorta feel sad on this. When I was younger, I always thought to myself that I'd be playing forever. Now I'm lucky if I ever pick up a controller. I'm gonna have to place the blame on college...

You guys are wierd.
I play Team Fortress 2 at least 3 hours a day. And just got GTR2 for $7.
All on a 32 inch HDTV.

I'm quite happy with PC gaming right now. Very Happy. I have a Virtual arcade, this is an awesome time to be playing PC games.

I stopped gaming for about 2 years, then I got sucked back in with the 360...been a longtime PC gamer before that though...

the only game that keeps me entertained is CS so how bout a new counterstrike.... also crysis is pretty fun too.
