Right now I have a Kodak C875. And it's a piece of shit. Pictures are too grainy, I've tried everything flash, no flash, enough lighting. And still shitty. My brothers 4 MP camera takes better pictures. Now if someone can recommend a simple camera to take pictures with it not too expensive just a regular digital camera. Thanks

Nikon S510, S520, S550, S600 - Pure Point and shoot compact
Canon 720IS, SX100IS or SD850IS - Better control (manual mode in some)
Nikon S51 or S51c for ultra small point and shoot.

I recommend the 720IS or SX100IS from Canon. I personally have for a point and shoot a Nikon S500 (older S5XX series).
 
I can vouch for the Canon 850IS being totally kickass, small, and durable.

The only thing it sucks at is taking pictures at 1600ISO. But thats like .01% of my work with it. :D
 
I'll throw a recommendation for the canon SD870 IS as well, got it and very impressed, well built , great pics and small and simple but solidly built.
 
The IS line of Canon's ae very good, yes.


I also rather like some of the nicer Sony cameras that have the Zeiss lenses
 
Canon IS-series are great cameras for the money.

I bought my girlfriend a sony dsw-100 from christmas and its a great camera, and you can get it for cheap used / refurb.

the sd1000 from canon is a pretty good camera for the money as well.
 
If you can find a Fuji F30 or F31fd, they are the king of low-light photos (for non-dSLRs).

I love my SD1000, very good point & shoot. It's my first digital camera as well. ;)
 
Any of the Canon PowerShot line or Sony CyberShot line are great. Easy to use, mid-range cameras.

I'm currently using a CyberShot and have had a huge increase in photo quality, as well as the amount of photos I take. Before I got this camera I had a jank piece of shit and I just never used it because I couldn't get clear images (much like yourself) with it.

I picked up the CyberShot DSC-W55 on Boxing Day last year along with a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo and it didn't cost me too much over $200.
