Next but not 5 maybe?
Like the next bf...

GamersGlobal: Last question, what about Civilization 5 ?

Sid Meier: We should talk again sometime later this year...

Sid Meier: Well, Civilization Revolution is all the best parts of Civilization.

"Civilization Revolution will be highly portable"

After the ut series, Civilization is going to console now
I hope the pc version won't be just a console port. And I doubt it won't be.

I have been told by your colleagues that Civilization Revolution will be highly portable because there’s a core gameplay engine, and the rest is eye candy and interface. It is as easy as that?

It actually is! We’re doing a DS version, and the gameplay is exactly the same as on the 360 and PS3. We do not like the idea of ports or outsourcing different versions to other developers. We want to safeguard our gameplay, we want to make sure that, with all the work we put into the gameplay, it carries over to the different platforms. So we have a game core that has all the game rules and the AI and everything. And that’s the same on all the systems. It’s just the graphics and the buttons that are different.

Well, Civilization Revolution is all the best parts of Civilization. Of course, we’re addressing a new audience, and we want to take the best advantage of the nextgen console hardware.

GamersGlobal: What do you think about PC games versus console games?

Sid Meier: The PC will be around for a long time, it is certainly a big part of our future plans. A number of the ideas we’re currently looking at internally are both PC and console. The nextgen consoles have the power to rival a PC in terms of graphics and processing. So it makes sense to build them both on the PC and the consoles. And we’re seeing that with a number of games. PC is still the best place to play a MMO. It has unlimited internet access, so downloadable games are still strong on the PC. Blizzard has certainly done a great job of keeping the PC upfront as a gaming system. And it continues to get better and better with new graphics cards and so on. Right now, we see this rich set of platforms, from the DS through the consoles to the PC, so we’re able to just say: This idea, where will it fit best?

Nice paradox. DS has "power to rival a pc"

This version will not be ported to PC in the same interview sid says to ask later this year about Civ 5 which will be PC only as usual.

its just a income padding for sid and crew

No you don't. It's a watered down version of the game for consoles and handhelds. If there was a PC version you'd just piss and moan about how consoles ruined the Civ series. The two versions of the game are perfectly capable of coexisting, and I for one am totally stoked about having a version of Civ that I can take with me on the go. If you want to play Civ on the PC there's a damn good expansion for it that came out less then 6 months ago. I don't see how having another version diminishes the core series in any way.

Portable as to be ported from 360/PS3 to DS but not for pc?

He didn't say they was making civ5 in the interview. He said : "ask me the question again later this year"

Civ 4 has sold more than 1.5 million copies and that's not even counting the expansion packs. They'll be making a Civ 5. And since you've apparently never seen a news article about games, "ask me later this year" is code for "it's too early in the project to make any announcements but there is a project and we are working on it".

I think you are the only here that piss and moan.

He said the new civ is "all the best parts of Civilization."

He's not saying the game is going to be release for pc but he is not saying the opposite either. He said highly portable, I'm not sure how pc cannot be a client of this portability.

A revolution mean a huge change. And the name is civilization revolution. So it sound like civilization is going to change. And if we look at the new games, it's all going to be with rank, so some sort of a MMO.

Thanks for your prediction. This is not changing the fact that the question has been asked and he said "ask me again later this year"

He said pc is good because : "And it continues to get better and better with new graphics cards and so on."
Ummm...

 Whatever, while you chew on your fingernails worrying that some watered down DS game won't make it to the PC and that they're going to idiotically cut off a franchise that has been making money hand over fist for over 20 years and has had a release as little as six months ago just because they haven't made any actual announcements yet I think I'll go enjoy a game of Beyond the Sword.

You see, it's what I said, you're the only one here doing it.

Nobody is saying they are cutting off the franchise, I'm saying they are working a new civilization that is going to be released for console before pc. I'm also saying they do not appear to work on a civ5 yet.
