So I spelled experience wrong. I put the i in the wrong spot. The spell check gives me words that aren't even close to what I was trying to spell.

Lol...it does the same for me. I haven't had enough coffee yet this morning so I don't feel like searching and testing, but I wonder if there's a better spell-check addon for Firefox.

For shits and grins, I typed your misspelled word into MS Word 2003. The only suggestion was that I capitalize the E.

Er... when I typed your word in Firefox it suggested "experience" correctly. Firefox 2.0.0.11 for Linux.

Try the google toolbar spell checker. Seems to work very well.

Only annoying thing is that you have to click the button to have it check, it does not do it on the fly.

The IE7 Pro checker works good as well...but not on firefox :p

Meanwhile, SeaMonkey (same backend as Firefox) curiously suggests:
unexpired
expires
expire
irreverence

Well, it does share a few letters with "irreverence"..

Word 2007 knew what was going on, though, and suggests only the correct word.

Are you sure it did not autocorrect as you were typing it? Word auto corrects many known mistakes like that in words (switching around two letters, etc.).

Yes, Firefox built in spell checker does suck balls at certain times.

This is well knonw, we all said it over the danm place that firefox spellcheck isn't accurate.
It look like they are too busy spending the fortune they made with firefox than fixing the major problem.

You mean the fortune they made on free software? Yea, sure. They say, "don't look a gift horse in the mouth".

I agree. Microsoft has billions, years of experience with spell check, and more experience with web browsers, yet they don't have spell check at all. Firefox isn't perfect, but I'll take it.

I'll remember that proverb. :)

btw it let me wonder if they are not right finally, neo-liberalism in capitalism is magic. In god we trust.

I recently discovered that Firefox doesn't think "dialogue" is a word.

its not firefox that does the spellcheck, but a program that gets installed.

No problems here
