is this possible?? the product req's say mac os only, but if it's a regular bluetooth device, i dont see why not... is anyone currently using one on their pc?

A couple folks have returned them where I work because they don't work correctly when running Boot Camp. I guess they have issues with random disconnects.

w/out bootcamp drivers, everything has worked very well for me with vista ultimate on my athlon xp box. With bootcamp drivers for the keyboard (gain use of volume, eject, media keys), there's an issue of caps lock pretty much not working.

I use one daily with my MBP booted into Vista via BootCamp. No problems at all. :) Haven't tried it with my desktop PC though, but no reason it wouldn't work if you install the BootCamp keyboard driver...

this has got me wondering if there is a way to pair it with my pocket pc and windows mobile 5.... hmmmm....
/devious plans

i can get my dell x51v to see it and attempt to pair, but i havent gotten it to pair yet. im sure there has to be a way... i just doubt it is simple. but that would be really cool! the kb i have now is an ir kb and it is kinda troublesome cause everything has to be lined up just right.

so wait- do u have it working with a -windows- pc? i've got an xp box and a vista box, gant get it to pair right... how'd u do it? where can i find bootcamp drivers, if thats the case?
[thanx all]

It's paired with the athlon xp box in my sig running vista via a d-link bluetooth dongle. The bootcamp keyboard drivers are floating around online, just have to search for them. You should be able to get it paired with an xp/vista machine pretty easily without any sort of apple drivers...

SUCCESS! hahaha i just got my apple wireless keyboard to pair with my dell axim x51v! YAY! anyway, it is really sweet as an input device. there are even keys working for volume up and down, left and right soft key, and the "start" menu. its great.

btw, it also works great when paired with windows xp on my macbook.

what kind of issue were you having with the treo, and is it running windows mobile or palm os?

Windows Mobile 5. It would pair, but not function. I blame the Treo - this is just one item in a list of things that are wrong about the device (crap battery life, frequent crashes, inconsistent sync, poor device quality - problems that follow each replacement handset I've received as warranty replacements). Treo 750 FTL.

was thinking about getting a treo. will steer clear of the 750. thanks. ;)
np. The really sad part is that the T750 is a really neat device in terms of features. It's just a train wreck of poor quality and compromises. :(

I do various PDA's including Blackberrys, Palms, and Pocket PC's... stay the hell away from Palm Treos.. Ever since the 700p, they've been garbage. I wouldn't be surprised if Palm goes out of business in the next few years. Nothing but problems.

how is the blackberry's os? i have been thinking about maybe scoring a curve, but i heard the web browser is horrible, and i dont know anything about the os. never laid hands on one.

i have a dell axim that runs wm5, and i like the sheer number of programs for it, i like palm os' compatibility out of the box with osx, but hate how you can only run one app at a time. what were they thinking? so, have been wondering about blackberrys os. any input?

I'm running an 80 user BES off of Lotus Domino and I rarely have any issues with connectivity. The Palm and PocketPC users are another thing.. Every day there are at least 3 users having issues with syncing their data. The blackberry is an automatic push/pull and is amazingly fast (on Verizon broadband... our customers with AT&T think Edge is really slow). I have a Blackberry 8830 World Edition and can run it for 3-5 days on a charge with regular use. I almost never have to reset it either. I was resetting my Palm Treo and my PocketPC phone at least 4-7 times a day.

The blackberries DO have a lot of software, but the problem is it will cost more to buy than it would with a pocketpc/palm. Sadly, you're paying for all the software pirates on other platforms. PalmOS and PocketPC software is very easy to hack. Each Blackberry has its own PIN number (which is like a MAC address) and most people who write software will license it to that partiular PIN, therefore they can keep track of who paid for it.

The blackberry web browser isn't horrible cough*palm blazer*cough, but it isn't great either. The only good mobile browser i've used is the iPhone/iPod Touch. Nothing comes close IMO. The curve is a very nice phone and I would probably recommend either that, the 8800 or the 8830.

As far as how the Blackberries work in OSX, I couldn't tell you! I just started getting into macs a few weeks ago. When I get some free time at work, I plan on doing some testing. I'll post my findings here when I do.
