This doesn't seem like it deserves a full entry on that list so much as an asterisk next to the new TF2 content.

The game is designed to run on "your grandma's laptop". It will probably play like complete shit because the simplified, free versions of games only work for more simple genres, see Gunbound and Shot Online.

Fuck that, only a moron would believe that the trash posted above is bf3. This is another stupid tangent that dice is going on (like bad company) instead of actually working on a game their dedicated fan base (ie the people who are still playing bf2+mods 2.5 years after the game came out) will purchase and play (and no, I don't count 2142 as a real game, it was a mod of bf2 if anything).

This is simply an easy cash grab by ea+dice to whore out the bf name and make some more easy money. Don't like your gun? Buy a new one for only $1.99! Tired of that boring outfit? Buy a whole new set of camo for only $3.99! Tired of getting owned by people who spent tons of money? Buy the bf:h mega pack for one low price of $39.99! Just another way for them to eek money out of the console audience by who after a few rounds of halo want be 1337 h4x0rS on their $500 dells and play a dumbed down bf lite. :rolleyes:


This game isn't free, and anyone that thinks otherwise is deluding themselves.

You forgot to say you can also pay to buy your skillz with Egay.

And it's hard to understand why they don't make games with a huge fanbase. But you know, they probably know what they are doing with spyware installed on all computers telling them what people like and what people want.

I'd like to say that vietnam was the official mod of bf1 but 2142 is a little more than a mod of bf2.

As for the new bf, you should understand the current gpu cannot offer better than the old 2142. That's why they are making their game like TF2 and this heroes.
 
It looks kinda interesting, but if they mix the sharp cartoon nature of TF2 with a soupy movement of the BF engine its going to feel really odd.

To be honest I'm less interested in what is happening with this and MORE interested with what Valve are going to do in response, I'm guessing their move to provide more content is largely powered by the threat of EA. Lets face it, valve have a great opportunity to provide extra content after they've sold their games but they rarely do.
 
Something about it being about ww2, and cartoony feels wierd. Kinda makes the war a nice and happy place to be.. I like gritty, the style doesn't suit the theme IMHO
 
I seriously doubt this is BF3, an info leak a few months ago revealed much different specs for BF3. I also seriously doubt BF3 will be free or use cartoon graphics =p

I couldnt agree more. TF2 does the cartoony look perfectly. Cartoony World War 2. WTF. It's like they decided to put a cell shader on bf1942.
 
EA exec 1: "Hey, that Team Fortress 2 thingie is doing well, let's copy it."

EA exec 2: "Hey, let's tie it in with the Battlefield series!"

EA exec 1: "Brilliant! Then we can cash in on TWO big-name titles, all while diluting the FPS genre in the name of making a buck!"

This is EA we're talking about. They don't do anything without profit motive. They'll find some way to make money off this "free" game. That, or they'll patch it four times then abandon it full of bugs like they did C&C Generals...and we actually PAID for that game.
 
For anyone who hasn't worked it out yet, it's going to be powered by in game ads, they realised how much revenue it can bring in with BF2142, enough to provide the game for free.

Which makes me want to mock the people who bought BF2142.

It clearly say : "THE NEXT BATTLEFIELD"

2 is next to 1, and 3 is next to 2.

So they even say on the official website it's the next battlefield.

I guess, it won't be call bf3 but it's the next bf of bf2. Quite confusing no? :confused:

I must admit 2142 was also the next of bf2 without been call bf3.

Who would buy that, Beside grama and her old laptop as fast as the 8800. :D

Just because it's the next game called Battlefield doesn't mean it's BF3.

Take a look at the Elder Scrolls games for a good example.

TES II: Daggerfall
TES Legends: Battlespire
TES Adventures: Redguard
TES III: Morrowind

Battlespire was the next Elder Scrolls game released... but it wasn't TESIII...

You even admit your own argument is invalid.

It isn't from BF2142 ads, it isn't some weird scheme they just thought up either.

No, instead it is from something that they have ALREADY DONE. They offered a free game in Korea and sold in game items and such for add-ons to the game, they made a fortune off of it. So now they are bringing the idea from Korea to the US, as simple as that.
 
The "korean" market is different than the american market, it wont be as successful, just look at those lame and gay korean games, all crap.

The reason why I'm giving an explanation is to show some people is calling bf3. This is what also meant in my first post of the thread: "aka bf3?"

Did they used the same tactics as bf2142? I mean, the paying stuff is in the game for everybody but only those who paid for it can use it?

But the game will be available free world wide. And a site I know just gave that information. So this game is for the korean market too.

Not BF3, BF3 will be out as they say around November of this year, with destructable buildings and similar to BF2.

As for this game, lol, I wouldnt waste the time downloading it...
