Hey BOA, I have an idea...Stop the ridiculous fees and charges for withdrawing money more than X times per month and keep your $100. One of the worst banks.

+1 they just suck you in with this "free" money, then they make it back within a few short months.

I absolutely hate these "deals". They aren't deals. They aren't Hot Deals. They are SPAM. I get this crap in my email every day.

No such thing as a free lunch. Basic law of economics, Keynesian theory, whatever.

Do they charge if you over spend what you have in your account? PNC has yet to charge me for going in the negatives a few times. I love them.

Not sure. PNC is decent. All this after I just read an article about banks raising their fees at ATMs. I personally have only paid an ATM fee twice. Once on purpose and 1 accidentally. And guess where the accident was? BOA ATM. I wanted to check my balance and it warned me of a fee for withdrawing money, but not for checking my balance. I just wanted to check my balance. Basically if I can't get my money for free, I don't get it.

*rant*

When did the banking system in this country get flipped around? Banks used to keep your money and PAY you interest for the privilege of investing it and making huge returns on their rather large investments. Now, they still do that, they charge me for things left and right and ontop of that, pay me no (little) interest. When did I start paying the bank to keep my cash?

*end rant*

My free checking account at BoA was grandfathered in. My only limitations are the number of in-bank transactions which I rarely use and only 2 free customer service calls to a person. Otherwise it's unlimited free checking with only a $100 minimum balance.

how about supporting the country and not allowing the money to be sent to Mexico for free??? no there's an idea

That is crazy, explorer still says $100 :D

yeah, it says $100 in the title up top, but everything within the page says $75.

off topic, my credit union give me 6% interest on my checking account, and if i do incur fees from any other bank's ATM, they put that money back into my account at the end of the month. all i have to do is use online statements and do like 15 credit transactions on my visa check card.

back on topic, sounds like BoA will get that $75 back from you one way or another, so maybe not so hot???

I have been with BOA for years. I opened the checking account with $750 minimum deposit, which gives me free unlimited online bill payments options.

Now they started a new with out Deposit slip deposit from ATM machine. All you do is insert your bank of america card, and then deposit your check directly with out a deposit slip in your account. It is a pretty neat IMOP, no more deposit slips to fill or trying to remember your bank account.

Recently worked for a business that had over $30,000 stolen by a Bank of America employee. After bringing this to the attention of BOA, expecting a serious investigation, BOA essentially said 'You can't prove it'. Their investigation consisted of asking the suspect employee whether they had done it. They did re-assign the employee. Ooooh! They were only interested in avoiding any responsibility. Needless to say, the company then pulled their commercial account. This certainly put Bank of America firmly on my blacklist.

That's pretty nice. I hate standing there on the street filling out stuff and fumbling with my wallet (acct number) all the while being totally exposed. Makes me nervous, so I don't use it. However, that sounds simple enough, I would consider. Thanks for the heads up!.

If only more banks would adopt the 'we'll refund other bank's atm fees' policy, they could just completely do away with them all together. Hopefully more adopt BOA's new deposit system.

Meh, I have had nothing but great experience with Bank of America.

Maybe they don't like max $500 balance accounts? I wouldn't like an account with a constant low balance if I were a bank.

But when you have a CC, Checking, IRA, etc.. They treat you well.

Yep, I got my 100 dollars from them and closed my account...lol

I just don't use other bank's ATMs.

I don't see what the problem is though, I rarely have over $20 cash on me, I use my CC for everything under the sun.

No, that doesn't mean I carry a balance on it like a retard.

Unfortunately the only ATM's near my college are Bank of America so it looks like I'll be opening an account :(

I just moved from 30MinuteoutsideLittleRock, AR to 20MinutesoutsideLittleRock, AR

But the thing is, the 30 minutes was south of LR and the 20 minutes is north of LR (So, I actually moved 50 miles)

The bank I currently use has no ATM in Little Rock (So 2-3 times a week I pay a $2.00 fee) and I know this and I just accept it.

All banks in Little Rock are evil

My bank knows me by name and they act enthused when I walk in the bank (I'm no big spender, just a friendly, well-known guy in my old community)

I NEED to switch banks. I REFUSE to though because of the level of service I get at my current bank.

My parents (who I lived with before the move) are 2 miles from this bank, so I just view it as cashing checks and visiting parents.

I don't know what you guys did to make Bank of America hate you so much and give you those crappy accounts, but let me tell you about mine...

My Bank of America checking account has free unlimited online bill payment options, NO limitations on the number of in-bank transactions or customer service calls I can make, a $0 minimum balance, they don't charge if I over spend what I have in my account, and there are NO fees or charges for withdrawing money more than X times per month. On top of that, I got a $50 gift card when I opened it 5 or 6 years ago.

No Direct Deposit Restriction, the amount of $75 will be deposited to your account after 60 days. In order to get $75 you need to keep the account for 60 days.

Check your statements, there's a 20 monthly fee there somewhere. ;)

You mean they don't charge you when you are overdrawn on your account? if so, you have got to give us the type of account you have or are using :D

They suck for the most part with fees or keeping your privacy secure even though they will tell you they can't give you information when you are in front of them if you call one of their 800 numbers, the automated answering machine will give you more info that you care for even if you don't own that account... talk about security!

so from what I gather they will give me 75 bucks if I give them 25 bucks but I can't touch any of it ever.

Sounds like I'm just giving them 25 bucks so I can look at 100 bucks but never get to spend it; I'll pass never did like other people holding money to high for me to reach.

I have a question. If I do this, then close the account in a month, will I still receive the money. Basically put in the minimum, then withdraw all the money and come out $75 ahead? I read the first page, couldn't really find any information on it.

Nope, no monthly fees lol. It's called a Campus Edge checking account. There were some restrictions on being eligible, such as you had to be a student (with a GPA above 3.0) when opening it along with some other stuff, but I guess you get to keep it even after graduating.

I don't know where all you people found these shitty BOA checking accounts. Mine has no fees (unless overdraw...which you should be aware of in the first place), free online bill pay, free online transfers within BOA, no minimum.

Now they just rolled out the Keep the Change program. Free enrollment and your change per transaction is rounded up to the nearest dollar and depositted (spend $4.39 on a Starbucks coffee and the difference to the next dollar, $0.61, is deposited straight to your savings account). Only catches are you can't accumulate more than $250 a year and you need a savings account to go with the checking account you opened for the free $75 (and keep it in good standing). Nice program considering it's an actual cash back program with a checking card and not a credit card.

I'd be all over the $75 for a new checking account...if I didn't already have one with BOA ;)

LMAO...Its not a cash back program...ITS YOUR MONEY DUDE.....all your doing is letting them put YOUR change into a savings act so THEY CAN MAKE MONEY ON IT......

sheep I say.....

Is that how it works? Was convienently omitted from the radio adds!

You guys better do your research on Bank Loan Losses.. BOFA has more to come and is desperately trying to raise capital for reserve requirements.

Ge careful.. Citibank is still in a lot of trouble too.

The subprime slime is not over, and there are a lot of prime mortgages / loans that are delinquent too.

Right now, Wells Fargo still looks healthy.. Watch the stocks of these banks and look at their balance sheets..
