USB Extenders

Are there any negative effects from using USB extension cables or longer USB cables 6 -10ft?

I have brought an usb extension adapter with a 15ft cat.5 cable without any problem.

You may try an usb extension adapter , which is using a cat.5 cable to achieve the extend function. But please not that don't use a cat5 cable with longer than 50m (although the spec of cat.5 can achieve 10/100 Mbps within 100m). I have found some usb extension adapter may fit you.

I have used a 10 foot USB extension cable like this with no issues. It worked as well as it did not using the extension cable.

I have a 3' extender for my wireless AP and it's fine.

This looks more practical then having to waste ethernet cable. And it's cheap.
