I just picked up a Razer Barracuda AC-1 from the recent Woot. I installed it, got the beta drivers for vista, and so far so good. I have a few questions, however. I am using the Audio splitter that was provided in the box. I know very little about audio related things, so please, bear with my ignorance.

1. My mic does not seem to be working. All I did was drop the card into the PCI slot, and ignored the plugs in the front (CD-In and Aux-in). Do I perhaps need to actually hook those up to something?

2. I have the Logitech Z-5500 Speakers. Both the sound card and the speakers support optical, what kind of cabling do I need to make this magic happen?

Thanks in advance.

Question #2:

You, Sir, need a Toslink optical cable. They can be readily had on ebay for very little money.

No answer for you on the other, sorry. :)

Haha excellent. I was looking at the wiki pages on Toslink, but nothing specifically popped out to me and said "You need this!" I think I'll grab one from www.monoprice.com.

Any takers on the Mic issue?

I haven't loaded vista yet,(lazy) but if it's like XP check your hardware manager and see your sound/audio devices check your mic and it should allow you to pick, use the drop down menu and pick your card. Congrats on your card. I have one as well, not as bad as everybody tends to make it.

Thanks! It seems pretty nice so far. Anythings better than onboard sound though I'd say? In the sound options, theres a specific option for the MIC on the sound card. It currently says "No Jack Information Available" = wtf? Its plugged into the same dongle that the rest of the audio is, and that works fine. *Scratches head*

Also, as far as this Toslink cable, I see there are miniToslink cables and varying regular sized and combo ones. Which flavor do I need? The connectors on the speakers and on the sound card look different.

Edit: Nevermind on the MIC. I just had to set it as the default input in the sound options. It was looking for line in from the sound card. Cabling question still stands!
