Just e-mailed Kyle and while there are NO definite plans at this point, I may end up doing another series of "30 days" articles for updates to the major operating systems when Vista SP1 comes out.

Before I do that though, I wanted to get your opinion on the 30 days series - specifically, what would you like to see covered that we just couldn't get to in the first 30 days series, what changes would you make to methodology (i.e., where did I screw up) and what would you generally like to see?

Or, conversely, if you didn't like 30 days, what didn't you like about them? Do you think it was worthwhile? That sort of thing.

I've got some ideas of my own in this regard but before I decide to spend the time researching and writing the articles, I want to make sure that readers would find them valuable. They're a major time commitment and as such, I don't want to end up writing something that no one wants to read.

I want to see Hardy Heron. So I guess do apples new os, Vista sp1, and then Hardy Heron.

I forget who did these but there were these old commercials that had "secretly replaced" product x for product y. I would like to see a portion of the article that focuses on what the user experience is like for someone that had their windows suddenly replaced with something else.

Is there a link to the original 30 days articles? I don't believe I've ever seen them.

You've done Vista, Ubuntu, OSX... unless I'm overlooking the obvious, it would really have to be some other OSS variant....maybe openSuse?

Test it on two VERY different systems. AMD vs Intel, Nvidia vs ATi, different brand MB's, ram, hd's...

Last time you used 2 different machines, both with Nvidia cards at a time when Nvidia had crap for drivers, and you ran into those problems.

I would like to see the following:

Linux:
- See how well ATI's Linux drivers now work.
- Whether or not gaming in Linux has improved since your article. And this time check out how well games run via WINE, not Cedega.
- Expand your list of games to play in Linux. Preferably WOW, C&C 3, TF2, and COD4
- If possible, maybe another Linux Distro might be in order. OpenSuse, Fedora, and Sabayon Linux are some good choices.
- Test a Linux distro on a laptop. One of Linux's major weaknesses is wireless support in my experience.

All OSes:
- Networking. Basically how well and how easy is it to setup a home network between all 3 OSes. 4 if you count XP.

Other than that, I like your 30 days articles. Couldn't find anything that was wrong with your methodology, for now at least. :) I'll be reading those articles over the next few days and see if I come with with anything more.
