E8500 Shipping Wednesday!!!

rip off?, not when I get 4.5GHz on Air!!

Because I was going to just go with the E8400, but everyone is reporting not getting 4.0+GHz OC's. The E8500's seem to be the better OC'n chips. Maybe they are binned.

I am thinking the same as you, thats why I've been leaning on a e8500. Also like you said I've noticed people saying the e8400's are just not OC to well. I'm going to wait it out a bit and see how the e8500's are OC. IF they seem to be better I will easily pay the extra money.

Not really worth the Extra 100 dollars though, for that much id get a quad. :p
Considering it isn't your money, that doesn't really apply to him now does it

If the Q9450 were out right now, with an $50/$100 inflation price, I'd still pay for it.

There is always reasoning for paying alittle extra, obviously in this case, getting a new fresh processor.

And hey, maybe I will be able to get 4.8GHz on air when I get the 780i from the evga upgrade deal.

Not necessarily arguing against the new processor. Im arguing against a 50% price inflation and if i were buying it...id think twice or just get a quad.

The Q9450 is what im getting and i expect to see it a but below 400 shipped as the PP1000 is 316 and i expect the dist. wholesale price to be around 330ish... plus the retailers and wholesaler adding on some... we should see it around a 40 dollar jump.

You made your point about the price inflation, which you have brought up twice already, it's an insult to the original buyer.

You do not know his financial status, for you $100 is alot, for him, it could mean getting a processor as soon as possible.

Where did you see that? I doubt very much that 8400s and 8500s come from different bins. There's only a 160Mhz difference between them. There is no where near enough information out now to know how these things will OC.

Either way, good luck to ya. Hope you get a screamer.

I dunno, OCAU forums seemed to indicate that the 8500's were better OC'ers than the 8400's, retail for retail. I'm waiting on an 8500. I'm sure that I dont need more than what I got now...but hey, why drive a Mustang when you can have a Porsche, lol.

The 8400s not over-clocking well is a myth.

One guy got one early and it wasn't clocking so good, but however a week later it turned out he had a bad memory controller. Everyone is hitting 4ghz easy on the 8400. I dare you to find an 8400 retail thread and show me an instance with a supposed 'bad' OC.

I doubt there's much difference between the E8400 and E8500, there's only 200MHz difference at stock speed, overclocking won't be much different. While the E8500 will most definitely clock higher (at least in general), I don't think the margin will be much more than 200MHz. However, I do want to see some results when you get this sucker OP :D

There is no way in hell you will get that overclock!

Be real! I have the QX9650 with the 780i board @ 4.6Ghz.

every retail one i have seen posted is 4ghz plus....e8400 .$219 including 2 day fedex... if i dont get 4ghz, i will eat it...

Damn $100 more than the 8400? Im too cheap for that. Im still waiting for someone to post results for the 8200 or 8190 haha

how come there is no flying pig emoticon.

Over at Xtremesystems, someone has the retail E8500 on AIR!!!

OMG! Even better, haaaaaaa. :D

So I think it's safe to say I should get my $339.00 worth right?

Let's calculate this out here:

Sell my E6400 for $100.00 (running at 3.2GHz)
Bought E8500 .for $339.00

Pay $239.00 to go from 3.3GHz 2mb L2 cache TO: 4.7GHz 6mb L2 cache

Holly shit

When are the quad cores coming out? I need to build a new system.

i hate you all i have to wait till the end of the month to get mine, when i do tho ill let ya know what it does on water..... lol willi
stop teasing me with them awsome oc's will ya ..lol

I'm pretty skeptical. $120 more for an extra .5 multiplier? Maybe they are way better, but somehow I'm not so sure. I'm thinking we'll see some dissapointments from this.

Anybody know any word on when its available at e-tailers like newegg, mwave, clubit or zipzoomfly?

I've seen a few places like NCIX - Feb., but WTHK at this point. I HATE when they launch something and IT"S NOT AVAILABLE!!!!! AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!

I agree with you. I'm pissed now, paid for 2-day shipping so I could get it by Friday, but not available yet.:(

It's almost a bate and switch ya know. I'd give them a call and at least say look refund my extra dough that I spent on 2 day shipping.

This looks attractive as hell. Thought I'm gonna stay till Nahalem, but now, I dunno.
