Im looking for a free mmorpg and one that is FREE not like GW where u have to pay 50 dollars and the rest is free, i already have GW btw, But im looking for a good free mmorpg out there thats really fun and really good. Ive played Silkroad and Dungeon Runners and while they were fun for a while its really gotten boring, so what is your opinion on the best free mmorpgs out there?

Have GW: cool but cost money up front.
Dungeon Runners was cool till ingame adds popped up.

Currently playing Shaiya and liking a lot. Totally free, with a good community...

Just out of interest... why the objection to paying ?

I dont know if any of the above are any good.. but do they really compare with WOW/Eve/GW/Pirates etc etc ?

In other game segments (not MMO..) free stuff is nowhere near retail.

I have heard Perfect World was decent, not sure if it is out yet, they were doing open beta testing a little while ago.

I've played Perfect World before, tbh the game is nothing and it is VERY boring and cannot compete with WoW. Anything past the character creation screen lost my interest, lol.

For me I just don't have the time to devote to a mmo that requires monthly pay. I don't mind pay once mmo's like GW, since I can play at my own leisure . $15 bucks a month or whatever is not for me when I may only play once or twice a week...

Agreed, that was also the reason why I quit WoW, school took over and gave me no time to play, so 15 bucks a month was a total rip off for me.

I have very very strict parents that say any more towards my gaming habit is wasted and therefore they wont pay any monthly fee's or buy me games...so thats why im looking for something fun and free tho that is very very hard to find...

But on occasion i do get money and buy myself some games like GW, Orange Box, CSS, and a few others without my parents knowing...

I cannot stand playing payed MMORPGs... so to think what a free one would be like... oh the horror!

try http://www.swordofthenewworld.com/ its a anime/pirate victorian/pirate type setting..

i actually had a lot of fun in the game, its nice you play as a party (you control 3 characters) instead of 1 character..

give it a try..

but just be warned its a more korean/grind style of mmo.. but it is free, and out of hte free mmo's it is my favorite.

Yep, it's a good game (until you realize that you can never connect to any of the servers).

I only had that problem for a little while, granted they do get full fast but I can usually get in. I havnt played in a while though. TF2 became too fun lol.

But I second what others have said. I cannot justify the time to cost ratio for WoW or any of the other pay to play. I enjoy GW a lot, wish it wasnt all instanced but cant complain too much. I played WoW at a friends for a while and got to LvL 10, but the excitement just didnt seem to be there as much as other games. For me that is probably because there is just way to much to do and keep track of. with my short schedual.

Are you old enough to get a job? My parents were the same way when I was at home. As soon as I turned 16 and got a job, I opened up my own checking account, got a checkplus card, and received the bills without them knowing.

PS - have you ever mudded? http://www.mudconnect.com/

2moons ftw :D

I got hooked on that pretty hard. It could be very fun at times.

I played 2moons for a little while. But once they started in game advertising I quit. I think Shaiya really puts the spank on 2moons...

You know you can turn off in game advertisements right? The in game advertising is only for them to generate money as well as for the player to get 10% bonus experience.

Mythos definitely ranks up there in the top. That is a GREAT game. Holic Online is a new MMO in it's beta stages. Just a few days old. It's ok, but a Grind fest after awhile. The Devs are very active with it.

Holic looks like crap and plays like it too imo...
My friend picked it up and made me DL it so I could see him hit mushrooms 500 feet.

I used to play runescape which is free/$5 a month, but it got lame after a while especially when they updated to 3d.
